New user![]() | ![]() I'm a diet Pepsi addict and I gave up trying to give it up. Now I make sure I get at least my 8 glasses of water a day and then I don't feel bad if I have a diet Pepsi or two. It helps me cut down and I don't feel deprived. I've tried before giving up soft drinks or caffeine and for right now I have to be happy just cutting back. Happy New Year. Troy |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm back from a nasty cold...started Christmas AM, but luckily I was able to workout twice last week and still recover from the illness. I'll be in the pool tommorrow at 5:25am and in a spin class at 6:30am. Watch the logs start to fill out!!! Thanks for the support! Mark |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hope all is well for everyone. Hopefully 2007 is going to be a great year for training and races. I was running last Friday at the gym since we had 3 feet of snow. I ran 15 miles. Saturday i was a bit sore, but no big deal. Sunday I woke up and had extreme pain in my shin. I didn't think much of it until it continued to get worse. I went to the doc today and i have a stress fracture in my right shin. Not good. I need to keep from running for 3-4 weeks minimum. My 1st marathon is on 1/14 (2 weeks) away. I am really bummed out. This sucks. Oh well. I'm not the first to have this happen. I guess I just need to work on my swimming for the next 4 weeks until my shin heals. I'll keep you posted. B. |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hello all, I was in the pool this am 1000M annd then 50 minutes in a spin class. Damn it felt good to be back on it! Sorry to hear about the stress fracture Bob. Good luck on the recovery. I am finally healing from a sprained ankle I suffered last July. And for the record. I am a diet-coke-aholic too. Make it a good day! Mark |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry to hear about the shin Bob - nice attitude about building your swimming while the leg gets better. Glad to see you back at it Mark - nice double workout this morning! Looks like a lot of great momentum building with this group, keep it up guys! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry to hear about the fracture Bob, hope you get a speedy recovery! Seems Mark is setting the pace in the group, 1000m AND 50 minutes of spinning in the morning. That's a workout! :-) Just got of the scale, and since last friday i'm down 1,6kg and .7% fat. I'm not sure how accurate my scale is when it comes to measuring fat%, but i'll use it as an indicator of the trend for now. Happy training guys! //Mats *edit* Just thought of something. If i'm at 128kg with 35,8% bodyfat at the moment. Does that mean that 45,8kg of me is fat and if i get down to (128-45,8)=82,2kg i'm at 0% bodyfat? if so i'd still have a BMI of 26,3 and that's still FAT! What gives? Congratulations on the weight loss this week Mats! I don't think any of us will ever get to 0% body fat - you will lose some muscle as you lose weight - ideally you'll lose more fat than muscle, but your body won't need as much muscle to move 82kg as it would need to move 128kg. I was thinking about that the other day as I was carrying both of my daughters down the stairs - together they weigh about as much as I've lost, and boy was it hard to carry them for long. Don't sweat the BMI either - it's a rough guideline, and doesn't take body composition into account. It's not about being "fat" or "thin" or whatever other labels we want to use, it's about getting healthier, faster, and stronger, and you're already on the way! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I've been meaning to mention this as well - a little tip for using the "inspire me" function on the logs - if you click on "reply" to respond to an inspire me message, the reply gets posted in your log, so the other person may not see your reply unless they happen to go back and look at your inspires on your log. If you click on "blog", then it takes you into the other person's log and you can leave an inspire me message in their log, which they are more likely to see. |

I finally found a before picture and put up some pics at the end of the thread too. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wow! Just read through all 11 pages of that thread, and there's some amazing transformations going on here. :-) Quite inspirational. Had a bad day myself yesterday. Threw a party for some of my friends. Had sensible food, no chips, peanuts or other snacks, but quite a few drinks and a lot of candy. It kinda feels like a setback, but i'm going to eat healthy and workout at least 4 times a week and atleast 30 minutes a time. That ought to be a start these coming 4 weeks. I dread going swimming, i feel that's the one thing that can make me give up this new life. I absolutely hate beeing bad at stuff, and i really suck at swimming. also, i have a problem with delayed rewards. I want to see the benefit instantly when i do stuff, not the best mindset for long term training. Anyhow, enough of my ramblings. Hope to read from you guys soon! :-) *Edit* Measured my body and entered the stats in the log, man i'm fat! :-) Edited by FlyBoy172 2007-01-06 10:03 AM |

I want to see the benefit instantly when i do stuff, not the best mindset for long term training. Swimming can definitely be intimidating, especially at first when it's hard to make it the length of the pool without feeling like your lungs are going to explode. The mistake most people make is going too fast, and struggling too hard to not sink. Work on balance and form and go ridiculously slow at first. If it's available, see about getting some lessons to learn correct form. Once you get the form down, the distance and speed will come in leaps and bounds. |

Do any of you feel that you are getting the value you expected when you upgraded? The reason I ask is because I can get a discount to use trainingpeaks.com tools. Do any of you feel that you are getting the value you expected when you upgraded? The reason I ask is because I can get a discount to use trainingpeaks.com tools. Thanks I have been a paying "member" (bronze) off and on for the last two years. I figured that given how much I use the site and the logs, I should help support it a little. I recently changed to the silver membership - they were doing a deal with two months free and 20% off, so it only cost me $72 for 14 months. Main reason for upgrading was that I was very interested in the details of the winter maintenance plans, and those are only available for silver and gold members. Honestly, I don't think it's worth $72 just to see a few training plans, but I also wanted to continue to support the site in general given how much I use and enjoy it, and how much encouragement and support I've received from people here. |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for the info. I'll have to see if the features are worth upgrading at this point. I do agree with supporting the website though. My problem is that I just dropped $2K on a bike and money is a bit tight ![]() |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I felt the same way. I became a bronze member 99% just to support the site. I don't even know exactly what i got for the money yet. :-) |
