Happy 4th of July. Got a mid day ride in today knocking out a good 40K TT in the heat. Burned enough calories to enjoy some 4th BBQ. Enjoy everyone!

Hi everyone. Looks like you're all going pretty well so far.

I haven't start so well. This is week 3 of my 4 week block, and I'm feeling pretty tired and fatigued, so I'm not really feeling like a long bike ride. Really going to try and get out tomorrow morning for 3.5 hours. Once I'm out it's ok, it's just getting out that is tough. I've done a few shorter rides, and will do another 45mins tonight hopefully, but that long ride will take a big chunk out of my goal.

It'd be awesome if everyone could give everyone else in the team an inspire at least once a week during the challenge for that little bit of extra motivation. Everyone should have got mine this week! Make sure you add everyone as a friend so they can see you logs and give inspires!

Keep up the hard work!

Just checking in on everyone. I didn't get to ride yesterday because the dang rain we've been desperately needing finally came- uuggh. And the worst part is I have a trainer but have never used it. So, that's on the agenda with this challenge as well- figure out what I need/ how to use the trainer.

I will definitely ride today though because you can be sure I'll meet my goals 100%. Even it means I have to ride every day straight and in the middle of the night to get it in- lol. I only play to win ;-).

Hope everyone's having some great rides,

Shelly

Hey all ... got in some saddle time on Tuesday ~1.5 hours and it was one of those ride that I labored through.  Tried to make it a recovery ride, but it seemed to go on forever.  HAd a good ride going today, and wound up blowing a tire (front) and crashed.  1st crash ever on 'Ruby'.  It was not bad as we were only going ~16mph, and when I finally did fall, I fell into some really thick grass so no damage to the bike and/or me.

Everybody is looking great with their goals, their committment to put in the pedal time ... keep it up team and let's drop the rest!!

Got stage 2 in the bag. Rode 10 miles with dd and dh. Would have liked to have gotten a few more miles in but dd was spent. That's ok though cause I'm right on target to meet my goal.

We have to at least crush team Garmin and  team Omega pharma Quickstep/Radioshack- blah, blah blah that long team- hehe. We can't let those trash talking peeps beat us. So let's go team- Ride those bikes!

Anybody know how to fix the formulas on our spreadsheet? I just realized that our percentages completed are not correct. Everyone else's shows their percentage of 100, ours shows percentage of 1 if that makes sense.

I am an RN - spreadsheets are totally not my thing so I won't even attempt to come up with something. If no one knows how to fix it we can let Cat know and I'm sure she get it corrected.

I'll take a look at it, but it should be as simple as multiplying the formula by 100.

Dorm,

Sorry meant to respond to this earlier and just forgot. So glad that you and Ruby are both not hurt. I am always just a little nervous riding wondering when that first crash will be. And now after watching the TDF- I'm really afraid of crashes- lol. I hope mine is in thick grass as well. Road rash scares me- hehe.

I think you're right but I couldn't figure out how to get the formula. Not that I even really tried- hehe.  Like I said- spreadsheets and computers really aren't my forte- my dh would say that statement is putting it mildly- lol. I actually love math and science but making a computer do them- that's a whole nother ball game- lol.

Yeah that was it. All fixed now.

So I did my 3.5 hour ride today! Yay. Was pretty windy so that made it a bit tough. Did 85km, which is about 53 miles. My longest ride ever! I was hoping to get to the HIM race distance but didn't quite get there.

I hope everyone has a good weekend of training.

I'm totally clueless about the spreadsheet too! I was planning on an early morning ride this morning before my husband left for work but I woke up to ANTS in my kitchen!!!! ARGH!!!!!!! I could ride later when he gets home from work but the forecast calls for 105 degrees here today. I don't mind it being hot but I'm worried that kind of heat is bad for my tires or I'll blow a tire or something. I think I'll just settle for a trainer ride this morning and get it out of the way.

Happy cycling everyone!

Team standings as of 2pm (EST) Friday - not counting any riders who have no data in their team spreadsheet

Sky = 29.2%

BMC = 25.6%

Omega Pharma = 24.1%

Garmin = 20.9%

Liquigas = 20.3%

Europcar = 8.5% (if I used the correct spreadsheet, they have multiple)

Got a group ride in the plan for tomorrow- early morning ~45 miles or so.  It has been sooooo hot here (Raleigh-NC) ... 100*plus all this past week and now continuing thru the weekend.  I played golf today and it was absolutely brutal.

Still planning to make the ride in the morning which keeps me right on track   Hope all are well ... just be careful in this heat and take extra care to stay plenty hydrated.

GO TEAM BMC!!!!

Team BMC - it looks like Casie never checked in and therefore is a non-starter. Do you want to delete this player from your team?

Slight change of plans this morning as I rode from home instead.  Still got in a steady paced 32 miles before the heat of the day.  Everyone's doing great ... keep pedaling.  Shelly - how are you doing?

One week down and I got a great TDF Cycling themed class today to keep me in the spirit! Hard 10 min climb to the finish today, not quite a Cat 1 but not exactly easy.

Just got done watching the finish today. Won't spoil the results but that was an amazing climb. Relatively short but just kept getting steeper and steeper then they turn the final corner and it shot up to a 20% grade! A 20% grade at the very end of a 5 hour ride! Those guys are freaks! Just watching them nearly grinding to a halt cause that hill was so steep was something to see! Great camera work and a very entertaining finish. And this isn't even a true mountain stage.

Agree, great finish!  I got in 37 miles today for my Stage 5.  Was supposed to be 40-42 but I got kinda lost.  Not a bad week overall though.  Hope you all had some great rides!

Nice riding this weekend everyone!!

I'm playing the weather game.....

Today our forecast is the hottest day of the year. It was 95 degrees at 9:00 this morning, up to 105 right now. My neighbor said his temp. gauge is showing 132 on his patio! Tomorrow they are calling for a cool off BUT possible tstorms. Decisions, I decided to save the long ride for tomorrow when it is cooler and hope the storms pass through tonight. If it rains all day there is always the trainer. Can't wait for this heat wave to break!

I'm ok with that. I hate to boot anybody off but I'm guessing they decided not to participate since they've not checked in at all. I'm ok with whatever the team decides though.
