I've been wondering where you guys were!  Tapering for my marathon on Sunday so no commuting this week.  We'll see when my legs recover next week.

I'm in for this challenge!  We have a bike commute challenge at work this month, and I did my first commute this morning - first to the pool for Masters swimming, then on to work.

My goal is 30 commutes, counted as 1 round trip = 1 commute.  That should be do-able but still somewhat of a stretch with lots of travel this summer.  I carpool to work with my fiance, so I'll often just take the bike into work and ride home but for the purposes of this challenge I won't count those.

Well, since it's May I guess I need to ante up my commutes. I was 0'fer this week due to either dropping one kid off at school and picking them up from Granny's the other days. I also was a little sick (sore throat). Mid-May, pre-school is over and I'll no longer have the MWF kid drop-off, so things should start to open up a bit, but I'll still have to pick up the kids after work 2-3 times a week. In the past my wife hadn't worked, so I'm really not sure how this is going to go.

I'm shooting for a 2x per week average or 40 total. It will definately be a challenge.

Well, it's May so I better get a goal set now.  My commutes are short (2 miles each way to work and 2 or 3 miles to the gym depending on which one I go to).   So I'm going to shoot for 3 of 5 work commutes and 2 of 3 gym commutes for a grand total of 22 miles/week.

I got in 4 miles today with a work commute

Got my 3x/week rides in the past two weeks. It's pushing 100 degrees here now so it's getting a bit little unpleasant riding home in the afternoon.

I'm a big 0-fer so far as well. Today was supposed to be my ride day for the week, but something else over-ruled it. Hopefully, it'll start really picking up mid month.

Another big 0-fer so far as well.  Marathon recovery ends this week so I should be able to start riding to work on Tuesday.

Finally first commute of May today.  8 miles in and will shoot for 12 to 20 on the way home depending on time. 100 degree weather here in Vegas so will be a warm ride home.

Another week of commuting done. Temperatures are triple digits here in Phoenix right now.

I've got another two weeks or so of riding back and forth and then I'm moving to the Bay Area. I'm not sure where I'll be living yet but if it's anywhere within fifteen miles or so of work I'll be riding again... and on better roads and in cooler temperatures. Stoked!

First commute in May for me.  The rain stopped just in time for me to ride in this morning.  I lowered my bars over the weekend and I guess I didn't get them back on perfectly straight...  It's the wierdest feeling.  Took me half the ride to clue in so I tweaked them when I got to work.

18 days in and I've finally made it in for May. It seemed the lights changed for me and I had a slight tailwind and I nearly averaged 17mph

My kid graduated pre-school, so now my commutes only depend on my wifes work schedule. I should get 2 or 3 commutes in this week.

So there I was, ready to ride this morning, and my bike wasn't there. Stolen over the weekend. Out of the garage. I mean it was a crappy bike. But it was my commuter bike. And now I am like, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

They stole my crappy commuter and my even crappier, if possible, mountain bike. I shouldn't say my commuter was crappy, it was old and tempermental, but it did the trick, quite well. Nice little ancient Appolo. Oh how I will miss thee. Thankfully the tri bike is in the basement.

Lesson learned, close the garage at night. I mean it is my own stupid fault, dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb. Lol, I laugh though, becuase the mountain bike was useless, hadnt been ridden in a year, tires super soft, rusted chain, doubt the gears worked. And the Appollo, well, it is tempermental, cant pedal backwards without jamming the gears, chain falls off if you dont shift just right. man.

That's terrible about your bikes.  I hope you can get a replacement quickly!  I know you describe those bikes as beaters, but I routinely see bikes in that condition when I have to ride on the bike paths on the weekends...   I feel so bad for those little kids trying so hard to pedal with flat tires and rusty chains...  I should start to carry a frame pump and can of oil on the weekends to help them...

This threads been quiet lately!  I've had two good commutes.  Yesterday set a new top speed on the descent from work: 80.1kph and a new 5s maximum power of 960W while trying to out sprint someones RC car.  Those things are quick!

Very nice ride in today, just taking it easy in the sun.

^^^ No kidding, that sucks about your bikes. I've often thought about locking my bikes in my normally closed garage.

I'm on the board now with 2 commutes this week. I rode Mon & Wed and had the opportunity on Thur, but I was too wiped out to go back to back. Next week looks like two opportunities and they will be back to back. Hopefully I'll be able to make it then.

Hey hey hey hey fellow commuters. A new week, an new attitude. The sun shines on me, as I have recieved a free, sweet, used touring bike. Better than my old one, by a long shot. And, I got a free used lawnmower, which is another story but suffice it to say that one should stay away from the rechargable lawnmowers.

So, hopefully, knock on wood, I am off tommorow for a little commuting action.

Hope the week goes well for everyone.
