I'm at the tale end of The Perfect Mile by Neal somebody. (It's the story of Roger Bannister, John Landy and Wes Santee and the quest for the 4-minute mile.) It's EXTREMELY interesting, and talks about the different training regimens that each of the athlete's used.

I just finished "Kung Fu High School" by Ryan Gattis. It's sort of Harry Potter, but with martial arts instead of wizardry and an American public school instead of a pastoral English boarding school. Brett Easton Ellis does Quentin Tarantino. An ultra violent examination of gang culture in public schools. I couldn't put it down.
