Thanks for all the responses! I had never thought of an "off season" but am feeling burnt out with training and unmotivated. After my last race I'm going to do a lot less s, b, and r in the winter and try to make room for things like tennis, hiking and yoga. I think I need do mix it up a little before I get too out of it! I want training to feel fresh and fun again and it hasn't in a while. The strength training thing is a good idea, since I can never seem to fit it in while I'm training for races. I might need to make room for that!

The race season around these parts is May thru Oct.  I'm going to run a half mary in March, so I will spend the winter training for that.  I will use nice days for biking to give myself a break from running.  I have a pool next door here at work, so I'll swim on my luncch hour when I know I won't be able to fit anything else in.

Off season is called deer season.....
Nov / Dec is totally non structured training.

then running season for some early spring running events
