Whatever you do, listen to your Doctor. You may hate them, but in the long run, it's alot better to let injuries fully heal, than it is to stay in top shape. If you think it's healed, let your doctor give you the okay... Nothing is worse than re-injuring it after waiting for it to heal.

Azzuri - 2008-08-27 10:48 AM don't be a weak little girl, go out and run. Who listens to their doctor anyway?

Not cool, and not a good beginning for you here at BT.

Ditto, not cool.

I'm about to start back running after laying off for about 2 weeks. I know it's not as good as running, but I'm going to try the eliptical machine.

I am not sure If I have a different name for It where I live, but what Is a eliptical machine, thanks.

Aerobically, running gives you the most bang for time invested. Cycling will help maintain a base, but sad to say you will quickly lose any speed you had. The good news is that if you maintain a good base on the bike and stay healthy, when you return to running you may be surpised to find how quickly you can build up to your previous level.

Sounds like a great opportunity become a monster rider and swimmer.

Yes It does the thing Is the bike and swim are my strongest, I have to work hard at my running I can plod for hours and miles but to keep the times good Is very hard work for me.

Here's a bit of positive news...

I REALLY increased my devotion to the bike a couple winters ago. When I came back to running, I felt like my legs were the strongest they ever had been and I ended up with a great season of running. I attribute it mostly because I was able to train more without my usual assortment of knee issues that would hold me back. You can't replace running and expect to be where you were but it's not entirely bad news to back off.

Good luck. Stay positive.
