Subject: RE: Do Garmins last for a full IM? You could bite the bullet (strange expression; I wonder if anyone got a cheek blowout doing that) and buy a Garmin Edge 305. I have one because I got started in cycling before I lost my mind and got into the hell and highwater activities that make up the triumvirate. So I can use the Edge on the bike, start it when I get to the bike at T1. While I'm deciding on baby powder, foot dip, or roll-on deodorant for my tootsies, it can be satellite locking. By the time I get on the bike, I hit start and that will lock in my end-of-T1 time and track the rest of the bike ride. I'll keep the Forerunner turned off until just after T2. Since I will know what time the event started, I'll know from the Edge how long the swim+T1 took, which is good enough for me. (Actually, remembering the date that I actually DID a triathlon is good enough!) I'll also know the run time from the Forerunner.
