Daremo - 2009-08-19 5:18 PM Reliability with SRAM??  Please .......... there are absolutely no issues in my experience.

My recommendations?

SRAM Red (the shifters alone are bad azz enough to warrant the choice aside from the fact that everything is lighter).  AND, they are cheaper than Dura Ace.  I like DA, but I am absolutely sold on the Red.  It f-cking rocks.  No questions.

NOT the Vuma Quads.  I have them, they are great and I love them.  But if you are gonna drop the dough, get the Vuma Chronos - this is a TT bike.  And get the ceramic BB.

If you are absolutely sold on the Transition, okay ....... but I would also say look at the P3C or Felt DA.  Or even better, look at the new Giant - but I don't know when the release date is for it.  Not the older Trinity - the new design that Rabobank is using.  Not the P4 ..... it is a waste of dough.

I'm a fan of the Visiontech stuff, so I'd prefer those for bars.

You asked.

A couple of the trinity frames are available now (or were as of this last weekend).

PennState - 2009-08-20 10:12 AM Well this is interesting... Specialized has released their prices for 2010 models... the transition pro frameset was $2,500 for 2009, but for 2010 it is $1,800. Maybe a typo, but I would go new if that was the case.

I will sell you my '09 transition pro in 27 days for a crazy low price.

Probably not a typo.  I heard that Specialized road bikes were going to see a price drop in 2010 so makes sense the TT bikes would as well.

4. A totally different build (let me know what you like or think is best)

As a bit of background on me... I rode 20.55 mph at Lake Placid this year and with continued diligent training would like to get to 21mph next year.

Thoughts?

I'd go with either SRAM Red, or SRAM Force with the Red TT levers. (I run a mix of Force/Rival, old and it rocks. No problems at all with durability, and I bought them used off ebay.)

I would also go with a compact crank option, I think it's a better choice for triathletes.  SRAM Force would give you enough $$ for a mid range set of wheels (Kyserium Elite or similar) with a powertap. Get a disc wheel cover and an aero helmet, and you should be ready to rock!

Bars and the rest are all highly personal, so get what you like and think looks good!
