I swear I'm gonna start keeping a running tally of every time the Clinton defense is used to defend the Bush administration.

It is not like he was getting happy endings from a person who was not his wife in the oval office. Not that is a strong Moral charachter.

Good point. Something which had nothing to do with anyone elses lives besides Bill & Hillary's but which was made a big deal out of in the press. And rightfully so because it speaks to the character of an elected official.

I love the deflection. Clinton got a bj, so it's okay for Cheney to shoot somebody. Guess what, they both were wrong!

1. Hunting without a permit.
2. The captain of the local sheriff's department and the two officers from the local police department were denied access when they came to the ranch to question him the day of the incident.
3. He admitted to having a beer five hours prior to the incident.
4. It wasn't until the next day after Whittington appeared to be in the clear that he admitted to pulling the trigger on record to the sheriff's deputy.

Here is the story had Whittington died:

"Last Saturday, Vice President Dick Cheney, an experienced hunter, was hunting quail with several well-heeled Republican acquaintances, including Texas lawyer Harry Whittington. The two men had been drinking throughout the afternoon, and at one point began to quarrel about a business venture of mutual interest which had gone awry. The argument became heated. Whittington sneered at Cheney’s declining public standing and the most recent disclosure, by Cheney’s former chief of staff Lewis Libby, that Libby had leaked classified information to the press at Cheney’s direction. When Cheney responded with an obscenity-laced remark, Whittington, a man who knows where many bodies are buried in Texas politics and business, suggested he might arrange for certain facts of a sensitive nature to become public knowledge. Cheney, enraged, stormed away, then turned, lowered his shotgun and discharged it, hitting Whittington’s face and upper body."

That was all in fun but who knows what the truth is when you deal with liars?

I understand it is hard for compulsive liars to take responsibility for their actions. There is nothing new about this. It's an addiction. What I can't understand is why you'd hold up Clinton's hummer as justification for the VP shooting another man, and then acting above the law. I don't even mind so much that the press found out about it later as that could be easily explained, but who the hell does he think he is to have a complete disregard for local authorities? The police represent the authority of the people of the county that they serve and he basically gave the finger to the people of that county. Now if I shot you and both the sheriff and the local police came to question me, you think I can just tell them to come back in the morning?

When I first tried to reply I could not find the reply button so I was thinking Ron kicked me off. I heard a lot worse on this site than what I said. First of all, The Clinton remark was just to get y'all riled up. I think it worked. Second of all my original comment was about the media and not about law enforcement. But why should they have to talk to the sherriff or police when there were secret service agents already there. I bet they know a lot more about law enforcement then the local hick sherriff. But why even bring law eforcement in when it is a known accident. It is not like Whittington was in a coma and could not talk or file a complaint if he wanted to. And we would never be out hunting because I don't kill animals for fun. As Far as not having the hunting stamp, many people did not know about the need of a stamp and have gotten the same warning the Dick got. So the conspiracy must be the beer, who knows maybe Dick did get falling down drunk and shot his buddy. But if that was the case I am sure we never would have heard about Mr Whittington.

Clinton doesn't get me worked up. I'm not a fan of Clinton or Bush. I'm Libertarian baby, I get to take shots at them both (pardon the pun)

Second of all my original comment was about the media and not about law enforcement. But why should they have to talk to the sherriff or police when there were secret service agents already there. We are a nation of laws. When a man shoots another man for any reason, the local law enforcement are supposed to do their due diligence. As much as you have argued for it, the Vice President is not above the law.

And we would never be out hunting because I don't kill animals for fun.

That's cool. I kill them indirectly for fun. Nothing better than enjoying a big phat steak. My mouth waters as I think about it.

As Far as not having the hunting stamp, many people did not know about the need of a stamp and have gotten the same warning the Dick got.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Dick's a poacher.

So the conspiracy must be the beer, who knows maybe Dick did get falling down drunk and shot his buddy. But if that was the case I am sure we never would have heard about Mr Whittington.

Maybe he slept it off for a day, maybe he cried in another beer, maybe he was roasting quail over an open fire, I guess we'll never know since a timely blood alcohol test couldn't be taken because you know, the local hick sheriff doesn't know as much as the Praetorian Guard...
