I could see BC, or UNC, or UVA (and it has to be 2).  All have great academics and play sports.  but I don't see BC leaving Hockey East for the Big 10.  If they hadn't started B1G hockey (and mostly killed the WCHA and CCHA in the process), BC could stay in Hockey East.

What else on the east coast has good academics, plays BCS football, and isn't in the SEC (Vanderbilt)?

Maybe it will be eventually ND + someone else

Vandy is in the SEC.

That was my point.  They are the only school, academically and geographically, in the SEC that would interest the big 10

Then why did you use the word "isn't"?

Bripod - 2012-11-20 3:31 PM Rutgers is officially in. A lot of people are saying some pretty sarcastic stuff about Rutgers being added to the B1G. This being football season, I would think that Maryland would be the butt of the jokes, considering Rutgers is ranked ahead of Michigan in the BCS, while Maryland just got pounded by FSU and is sitting at 4-7. *shrug*

Rutgers quality wins this season:

@Arkansas (4-7) W 35-26
Syracuse (6-5) W 23-15

@Cincinnati (7-3) W 10-3

Key losses

#23 Kent State (10-1) L 35-23

Rutgers #22 ranking and 9-1 record is pretty inflated considering every other team they beat was well below .500 and Kent State's only loss came to Kentucky (2-7).

I guess that's how it goes sometimes. The #3 team in the country has marquee wins over Florida and Vanderbilt, and all their other wins come against teams well below .500 and a team named Georgia South (whoever they are). Their record also includes a humiliating blowout loss to South Carolina. How they're the #3 team in the country is as much your guess as it is mine. But, again, I guess that's how it goes sometimes.

But they had to run the gauntlet that is the SEC!!!

haha from the Big Ten Blog Mailblog:

Andrew from Los Angeles writes: For the next round of Big Ten expansion, don't you think the logical choice would be the Indira Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi? Sure, it lacks a prestigious football program and traditional rivalries, but its television market would reach roughly 1/6 of the planet's population. I think it's about time the Big Ten expands its footprint to include the Indian subcontinent.

Brian Bennett: Shhh .... Delany might read this, Andrew.

I'll be the first to admit that Georgia's in-conference schedule is a bit light (only ranked SEC team that hasn't played LSU) but they still have to beat Alabama (most likely) to get to the BCSCG.

Because no one is leaving the SEC gravy train
