i had that movie on the tip of my fingers and just forgot.

Dagnabit.

I'm torn. Well, i'm going to see if they actually TRY to deliver the darn thing first. No sense in getting worked up if a notice never shows up.

I'm stalling on deciding whether to refuse or go ahead and except the machine knowing I'll be charged.

They can redirect it in trasit. Call and tell them the screw up.

Nope, I don't think so.

I am assuming you signed the credit slip where it says "I Promise to Pay". It will take a while, (And remember, this is Sears and could take a very long time) but they willl definitely track you down.

If for some reason this mistake does go uncorrected, it is not the company that will be put out, it's gonna be an employee (Or Several) that will have to answer as to why an item worth 4 (Or Possibly 5) figures is missing from inventory and why the books don't balance.

It's gonna suck, (It is Sears after all) and will surely take a lot of doing, but I think the right thing to do is to either get them to charge you for it, or send it back.

The piece of mind you get from this little exercise will surely pay big dividends every time you get into that infernal contraption at the Y. Treadmills are evil enough, there is no use in mixing in some bad Karma

chosenprovidence - 2008-09-10 11:38 AM You call the company and let them know about the mistake. Kind of a PITA but you gotta do the ethical thing.

^^  What she said.

Karma will come back and bite you in the azz if you don't .........

Karma isn't the only thing that will come back. Nordic Track will come after the payment once they realize their mistake. It is a lot of money after all.

It sounds like you already decided to give it back, but I have a story that may make you feel better about doing so:

My friends were at a LBS that was going out of business and had HUGE discounts on all of their items.  While purchasing bike shoes, cleats, pedals, etc., they saw a bike rack that would fit on their new car.  The bike shop rang them up for everything...except for the bike rack.   They thought "hey, SCORE" and kept on walking out.  They even called me to rave about the free bike rack they just got.

The next day they were in the middle of a 5 hour drive to a triathlon, yep, with their new bike rack and bikes (with newly purchased pedals, saddles, etc.) on the car.  Well, at 75mph, the rack came undone and their bikes went skidding on down the interstate.  Cracked frames, bent wheels, torn saddles, broken pedals...

When I got the phone call, all I could mutter was "karma's a big ol' beeatch sometimes, huh."

I'm another vote for making some good faith effort to let sears or norditrack (whoever sent you the email about the treadmill being shipped) what happened.  Keep it or return it, it's up to you.  But if you want to keep it and also not lose your self respect, at least try to get things cleared up. Karma will get you if you don't. Maybe the next time you screw something up on the job, no one bothers to help correct it and you get canned.  Or the next time you order something, you get charged and never get the product (even though their records say otherwise) and you lose a chunk of change.

But if you have tried several times, with no result, it's all yours.

I'm returning it!!! I'm returning it dammit!!!!

p.s. I still haven't been home yet so I don't actually know if they tried to deliver it yet. I'll keep yall posted.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you find they actually tried to deliver.  I bought a television from them a couple of months back, they had it in stock so I took it home.  2 days later I got a call from an out of state number with a recording stating that my television had shipped from the warehouse and I would see it in x days.  It never did show up and I never heard from them again.
