Thanks Mate.  Much appreciated!  Waiting till the spring for the next one is going to be tough.  I guess it will give me some good time to train.  I got ready for this one in 6 weeks...  I am looking forward to seeing what I can do with more time.

Train well this Winter and come next year on Long Island alone are the Ironclad Tri, Mini Mighty Man, Long Island Gold Coast, Mighty Montauk (Olympic - and highly recommended)...  lots of local tri's.  Hey, you're officially a triathlete now

Welcome to Beginner Triathlete   My first Open Water Swim was at Lake Welch, at the Endurasport Olympic triathlon, up in Harriman State Park in Upstate New York.  The lake water was 55 degrees!!!  That was a tough swim just because of the temp.  In July I swam 1.2 miles in the Narragansett Bay, which is pretty much the Atlantic Ocean, excepty a piece of land juts out a bit to form a cove.  That was pretty nasty, big waves and all.  But nothing had prepared me or compares to the white caps and swells we just swam in!!  Didn't look like it affected the top 10 finishers swim times too much though. 

I'm guessing Island Photo?  Whatever e-mail you used to sign up with, you will get an email from the photography place in about a weeks time.  And if you don't buy a photo, they will send you several e-mails to remind you that the photos are expiring.

I was wondering why there were so many DNS.  I never looked at the age groups to see they were the later waves.  I did also see a bunch of people cut the first buoy...  was focusing on staying alive after that so I stopped paying attention to others...  I almost got stuck on the second buoy as I felt my ankle hit the rope as a wave pushed it simultaneously and pulled me a bit. Such a rush just thinking about it

I also almost got hit by some idiot pulling out of a parking spot on the bike near that turn where all the water was on the ground.  All I could do is shake my head and keep riding.
