I saw it with my son last night.  IM-1 is better, but 3 is definitely entertaining.

TriMyBest - 2013-05-04 5:37 PM My son saw it in imax a few days ago and raved about it. The movies I really want to see this year though, are the next Star Trek and Ender's Game. EG is my all time favorite novel. I've read it more times than I can count plus each of the sequels a few times.

When is Enders Game coming out?  I havent seen any trailers for it.  This is one of my all time favorite books and series, including all of the "Bean" books.  I hope the movie doesn't ruin it for me.

Not to derail the thread completely, IM3 was pretty good.  Better than 2, but not as good as the original in my opinion.  But the wife and I had a fun time and enjoyed it.

My only issue with the movie was there wasn't much character development for the bad guy.... couldn't figure out what his motivation for "being bad" really was.

I'm obviously in the large minority here.  I HATED IM3.  HATED IT.  IM1 was fantastic, 1 of my all-time fav superhero movies.   IM2 sucked.  IM3 was only slightly better. I won't get into the specifics of why I hated it so much as to avoid spoilers.

FWIW I also think Nolan's Batman trilogy is the most over-rated franchise in the history of superhero flicks, so there ya go.  It's clearly me.

jmk-brooklyn - 2013-05-05 1:30 PMSPOILER ALERTI agree that Iron Man 2 grew on me after I watched it a few times. I like the addition of Shield/Black Widow as an antagonist to Tony, I thought Mickey Rorke was bizarre and over the top, which was ok with me. And I thought the "big reveal" at the end was cool. I liked 3 as well. (If you saw it, you probably noticed that Yinsen, the guy in the cave who helps Tony when he's first captured in IM 1, says hello to him at the party in Bern at the beginning. I happened to see a few minutes of IM 1 last night and when Tony first comes to and meets Yinsen, Yinsen says to him, "We met once-- at a conference in Bern, Switzerland".) As someone else noted, as good as the movies are, Iron Man struggles as a franchise because unlike Spider Man, or the Fantastic Four or Batman, Ironman doesn't really have a marquee villain nemesis-- no Dr. Doom or Joker.

Actually, he had "The Mandarin" because they were showing old cartoons in the theater I went to before the movie of Ironman vs the Mandarin.

I thought the continuity was good too with Yinsen and the link to the Avengers. I'm still not sure how The Avengers don't come help when one of them is in trouble.

I had the exact same question after the movie.  Wouldn't a scenario like one in the movie be important enough for the Avengers to assemble and help ole' Tony out?  What dictacts when the Avengers assemble or not?

My wife just told me to shut up and enjoy the movie.

I have some ideas but it would require spoilers.  Maybe we should start a spoiler thread so we can have a more open and frank discussion about IM and his role in the Avengers.

ETA: And I loved IM3.  Thought it was very well done.  Some of the fight scenes were SO fast I had a hard time keeping up, but I will chalk that one up to sitting in the front row of the theatre because those were the only seats left.

Sorry for the Threadjack, but this is important:

Here's the latest on Ender's Game from two days ago.

http://herocomplex.latimes.com/movies/enders-game-battle-room-mazer-rackham-in-first-footage/#/1

They pushed the release back to avoid the March/May melee of Sci-Fi/Action films.  I think they'll start pumping out the previews, etc as soon as the Iron Man 3 Hype dies down.

I liked the interaction with the kid.  That was clever.

I saw the movie last night with my wife, son, his friend, and my friend.

Everybody loved it.   It seemed though that I was the only one that got the humor of the post credit clip.
