The Police Half yesterday was definitely a character builder!  Great to see as many people came out as they did though.

ya sure have to be a nut to do spring racing in Calgary.

lsmapp - 2011-04-14 12:55 PM It's gross! My try-a-tri is on May 15 (Edmonton) - am I going to totally freeze to death after the swim?

Is it open water???

I raced in Banff last year in September.  Water was around 10C, air temp maybe 14C, and it was raining on the bike... We survived.

Was that the Subaru series? I'm doing that one this September ..

That was the one! If it wasn't so close to IMC though I would definitely do it again this year.  The weather was pretty chilly last year but the weekend before and the weekend after were beautiful, and that the race organizers were mentioning that the year before it was 27C on that same day.

Its got to be one of the most beautiful race courses in North America and the town of Banff really gets into it so I very highly recommend the Subaru Banff race.

I'm doing relay this go-round, but always did the Subaru series when I lived on the Island. As an aside, I also used to train with LifeSport in Victoria, while they were still the Commonwealth Triathlon Club. Ahhhh the good ol' days. ;-)

Yup - definately a character builder. I was volunteering on behalf of TriCops, and was holding traffic at the 2 KM marker on 50th ... watching people go out at 2K then come in at 19K was quite the difference!

Thanks on behalf of all those running for any words of encouragement at that point...we definitely needed it going up the hill back to Mt Royal through the snow!

Yes, I too ran the Policemans half and refuse to divulge my finish time Frown. ha ha ha. It WAS kinda fun though but Weasel Head was treacherous. I 'tweaked' my left knee a little so have taken it easier since plus 2 basal cell acarcinomas removed (Be warned all ye sun lovers) so have to stay out of the pool for now. Healing time.

Training seriously derailed and motivation level low : The weather last week??? Snow...COME ON!

Off to sunny Florida for a wee while next weekend so will cook there, get a few more carcinoams and hoefully run a nd bike and swim for 2 weeks. clermont area, NTC...

When I get back...I WANT/NEED running, biking buddies. Anyone up for it? i am SLOW!  No Hammer Fester here.

get back to me if you are slow...bike : 16 mph + or -  ...      running  9.30 Mins/mile

I live in SW area.  West on Gelnmore to HWY 8 and on towards the mountains a little. Called Elbow Valley.

Where is Copperfield? (I am new to the city).

Sure would love to meet you.

I get back on May 23.  Hopefully a LOT fitter and stronger. Hmmmmm

Gwen

PS Our waterski club opens in May...if the lake ever defrosts. It is located way down Spouth...off DeerFoot before you get to Okotoks. I will probably do a lot ofbiking and running in that area as i will spend  alot of time at the water ski club. Might even get a chance to Open water swim the ski lake if I get the timing right.

Copperfield is in the far S/E of the city - just off 22X and 52St.
