To make it, or not?
OptionResults
Make it
leave it
depends on if i got any the night before
Make it about 50% of the time because I'm the woman and I get to decide.
just pull sheet and comforter up in a half-ass way
find a hooker
Screwed if you do screwed if you don't
takes more time to argue than to make bed

Tania - 2005-10-06 2:58 PM since I am the only one who cares, I make the bed myself.
I'm gonna show this to my wife.

Wives everywhere, take note.

This may be a case where theory and reality diverge...
Uber, post the response from your wife, and we HUSBANDS will take note.

We go in cycles, sometimes making it weeks/months at a time. She doesn't appreciate it when I try to make the bed with her still in it, so she usually makes it for both of us.

luckily SO and I agree that bed making is dumb.

"do it or you're cut off" is kinda mean, even in jest.

it is such a small thing your wife is asking you to do, just do it. I finally realized that : For years I resisted turning the radio down when getting out of the car. It's my car, I shouldn;t have to turn the radio off for the once a week time you drive my car and want it to start silently. But now, it's just habit and I do it and sometimes I catch myself grinning at myself in the mirror as I consider NOT doing it just to seee what would happen.

my point: pick yer battles.

Make it -unless we're running tragically late. It's just much nicer to get into a bed that's been made. And we do it together. It takes, seriously, less than a minute.

And the problem with "do it or you're cut off" is ...well, the other person isn't the only one who pays! Why would I threaten THAT? Besides, using sex as a weapon doesn't strike me as a good idea.

We normally don't make the bed. I'm up at 5am and my wife isn't much of a morning person.

I will do almost any thing my wife asks--particularly small stuff like heloing her make the bed--just because I love her and it makes her happy and she does so much for me.

Once, "or you'll be cut off" is uttered, however, I'd say "go to hell" just as a matter of principle. My wife tried that a few times early in our marriage and never understood why the threat never brought me into compliance. I explained to her that I don't negotiate with terrorists.

I agree that "you're cut-off" is way off base. Sex shouldn't be used for leverage, to lead someone by the nose, or power struggles. Not unless it's a kinky kind of power struggle, then it's game on!

You're right, Hollis, of course. There could be no kinkiness found in a community of people obsessed with body hair, manscaping, chafing, urinating in pools, ripped abs, tattoos, and piercings; people who fondle their gear (which often has names) and use their gear as metaphors for non-tri related activities. Nothing kinky to see here, people. Move along!

I love having the bed made every day, but my husband doesn't. We've sort of come to the compromise that we tighten the bottom sheet and then I tuck my side of the bed in. He leaves his out. It seems to work pretty well for us that way.

To everyone chastizing my wife about the 'you'll be cut off' comment, she was saying it tongue-in-cheek. That's just her way of letting me know that she really wants me to help her make the bed. I agree, I should just help and not say a word, but you have to stand up for yourself sometimes. Otherwise you could end up so hen-pecked, you will end up like my uncle (dad's brother) The other night we were at a restaurant with he and his wife. He paid for a round of drinks, and his wife looks at him and asks 'where'd you get that money?' I COULDN"T BELEIVE IT. He is so pecked that he has to explain every dollar bill in his wallet.

2 things:

1) I can think of far better battles to pick than making the bed.

2) Maybe  your aunt keeps the checkbook and they are tight?  in that case knowing whether he took money out of the account or something else is actually important.
