we don't swear in our house. ella, however, picked up the word 'damn' after learning a joke
('what did the fish say when it hit the concrete wall? DAMN!' we later explained its double meaning
). also, we've always used the correct terms for body parts, and as a consequence, the whole nether region is now called "'gina". also, until recently, the girls and i took baths together
(we don't anymore because there isn't room!
). we don't streak around the house, but we're also not embarrased of our bodies and don't want the girls to be either.
ANYWAY, the funniest story was one day after we had all taken baths, she noticed something she hadn't before. 'mama, why do you have hair on your 'gina?'
i replied 'well, that's one of the things that happen when you become a woman.'
ella then asked, 'are you trying to tell me, that when i become a woman, i'll have hair on MY 'gina?'
'yup!'
'
DAMN!'
other than that, i can't think of a time she used a curse word. i was always taught that you should save swear words for very special occations
(like when you slam your hand in the door
), and tend to pass that advice on to my girls.
