Not a genius: as a migrant worker, I just don't make enough to buy one of these "dictionaries" of which you speak.

or

I have no interest in appeasing folks like bear and Derek and Haley who feel the need to point out others severe spelling handicaps (a growing epidemic, I assure you) to make themselves feel smart and superior by wasting my time to make sure every word I type is spelled correctly. Their voices are like so many leaves falling in the cold winter wind.

Couldn't have put it better myself. I mean, people don't realize that while I am a beacon of steady, shining manliness, blazing for all the world to admire, inside there patters the scared little heart of a boy who was once sold for a six pack of warm Lone Star to the crazy old woman the farm over to... watter them chikins', rub her corns and scratch that damndable and persistent itch located above what she called her "baby hole."

I'm curious how a marathon is a "life-changing event".

I mean if ya get hit by a bus or someone hands you a million bucks as you run past - I can understand that altering your life.  Or if you look at the decision to do one and the training alters your way of life....

But the marathon itself - LIFE CHANGING?

Am I missing something?

Well my marathon was life changing. I say go for it if you think so too. Heh, see how you feel after, you might not want to do another one.

I love mine.

(another shameless reason to post a pic)

You realize that picture will somehow end up in alt.fetishes.foot.tatoos, right?

But so many cyclists will have a chain or sprocket tatoo...

I've been thinking about getting a set of rookie marks tatooed on my right calf. I've been riding forever and I still get 'em, so why not make them perminant.

I'll most definatly get the IDOT tatoo once I finish an IM. Not sure about the 26.2 one though. I like the idea, and I like putting it somewhere secluded like my foot, but if I start getting a tatoo for every major accomplishment, my body will end up looking like a NASCAR

will they tatoo across the back of your heel? Like across the achelies (sp?) right about sock line?

I think they will.  My guess is that it will hurt a lot.  I have a tattoo on my ankle that has a few lines that went over the bone and those hurt the worst.  You don't have too much fat for padding there, but if you can stand the pain, I think they'll do it.

My tattoo artist wouldn't tattoo the bottom of feet or knuckles because they blur too much.

Renee - 2006-02-01 10:31 AM Thomas, I'm thinking about getting a tatt also. My marathon, I expect, will be a HUGE life changing event and I want to commemorate it. I was thinking of something simple like Haley's tatt on her foot, but was thinking of putting it high on the outside of my thigh (don't want a tatt that's visible when normally clothed). I like the "26.2" idea but am still looking for something that is more symbolic.

You mean like a picture of me with "Max is a kick-ass motivator" underneath?  Awwww shucks Renee!
