I signed up for it because I could get in, but the TT start and the no wetsuit are attractions for me (not because I'm a great swimmer -- I'm not -- but because I just don't want to mess with it). I live and train where it is much hotter, so I'm not bothered by heat.
Not knowing where you are in the field is no big deal to me, even if I were trying to KQ. The same thing can happen at big marathons, where it takes a long time for everybody to get started. Just go as hard as you know you can, and that's it. I don't find that I need a carrot to make me push hard (but sticks sometimes work -- as in "HTFU you lazy ba$tard!"  . |
