You can track your heartrate in trainerload just as you would your HRM. Use jorge's plan, and just track it in trainerload if you like. I am assuming that you're not trying to do Jorge's plan and one of the pre-loaded plans in trainerroad simultaneously. As a sidenote: since you're using trainerload and it calculates virtual power just like the "speed-to-power" conversion table does in jorge's plan...you could effectively train by power instead of heart rate. I hope that makes sense and I hope I just didn't confuse you more. Either way good luck and embrace the pain! From the first post I assumed she doesn't have a GSC-10 so would have to do it by HR. I could be wrong though. No, I don't have the GSC-10 but I don't mind buying it. Is that the cadence sensor? That's a speed cadence sensor. With that you can get power from your KK road machine. And yes, we are working with Jorge to put his entire plan into http://www.TrainerRoad.com. His tests mesh with ours too, so you would start the plan with an FTP test then all the workouts would be scaled to your new FTP. FTP is just the power you can put out for an hour. Let me know if you have any questions. |

Member 194 | Subject: RE: 305, Jorge's plan, traineroad = confusion It's not compatible with the 305, meaning you can't download data from the 305 to your computer. But, with TrainerRoad your computer becomes the head unit. With the help of the ANT+ USB stick we pick up the signals from your ANT+ Sensors. You can actually use your 305 and TrainerRoad at the same time. The 305 will not interfere. |

My sensor is this one: http://www.bontrager.com/model/09814 It has a little antenna symbol on it so I think I might be good to go once I buy the Antenna stick!

I have been looking at buying a PT, but I already have a GSC10 and would just need the ANT+ stick. Might be worth it for me to see if I like training with power for $10 a month, then go from there. I have a nice setup in the mancave with a laptop docking station and big monitor. Then I could watch my power and have the TV on too. Oh wait, I am supposed to be working. |

A PT is still nice because you can use it outdoor training and racing...but this is a good place to start to see if you enjoy training with power. I'm to the point that I won't even do a ride without a power meter . TrainerRoad will also pick up the wireless data from powertaps (as long as you buy the wireless one). That's how I workout. |

Veteran 275 Algonquin, IL | Subject: RE: 305, Jorge's plan, traineroad = confusion Thanks Nate. I just completed my second year of tris and want to make some improvements over the winter. I can afford a PT, but I would rather see if power works for me. After a ride outside tomorrow, I am going to be confined indoors unless we get a nice weekend. It's getting too dark to do any after work rides. Going to sign up and order an ANT+. |

Thanks again. Bump I love TrainerRoad and it would be all the better with target intervals rather than using freeride. Thanks again. Unfortunately we can't post Jorge's beginner triathlete plan on TrainerRoad because beginner triathlete owns that plan. Jorge is working on some different plans for us though. He's a busy busy man though, so I don't have a time frame for when they will be up. |

Member 91 | Subject: RE: 305, Jorge's plan, traineroad = confusion rymac - 2011-10-28 3:19 PM Is the ANT + USB stick compatible with the Garmin 305? Everything that I see says that it is not compatible. Is anybody currently using the discussed setup with a 305? EDIT: I just realized that you asked this way long ago and already had your answer. It would help if I actually scrolled down to the bottom of the page to see that I was on page 1 of 3 or paid attention to dates and all. My bad
Unless I really don't understand Garmin products, the 305 is a "head unit". While it does record and store data, it does not broadcast it. What it does, is pick up the data that is coming from HRM, Speed/Cadence, Power, GPS. The ANT+ stick goes into your USB on your computer. When using the Trainerroad software, the ANT+ stick will pick up the HRM, Speed/Cadence, and Power and report it via Trainerroad. Essentially, Trainerroad becomes a head unit with graphs, data, and a workout. I use trainerroad and have liked it so far. I really wish there was an export file to training peaks. We've been squashing bugs to make sure everything works really well with the workout itself, which is soooo important. They're not very big bugs, but you don't want any in the core. Once that is totally quiet I see us hitting export pretty soon. It's not that hard to do. |
