kproudfoot - 2008-10-25 4:02 PM #34.  Some people did some lying I think.  I moved up to #34 from 85 and they now have my time at 4:15 which is definately faster than I can go.  That means 33 people think they can go sub 4:15 which I really doubt but we will see.

You are correct - I put a 5 minute time and I am 197 - so I cannot believe that there can be that many doing if faster than 5 minutes - we will see.

You may have accidentally put down 6:00. I put down around 5:30 and I am #117.

I bet many, many people put down 5:00 even.  The RD has no choice but to give all those 5s numbers at random.  I put down 4:59 (a legit time) and got #71.

OK I have to confess I am one of those that didn't tell the truth about there times. I can swim 300 in 5-5:30 & that's what I put down for the Cooper Tri & I got #425,the swim was a big cluster F*^# for me. I didn't want that to happen this time but now I feel like a Jacka*^ , I just didn't know what else to do? My plan is to stay to the right & out of the way as much as possible. Sorry to all that will be behind me,just grab my ankle & pull past. Frown

I put down 4:14 and swam a 4:05 the other night working out.  Don't know if I could have rode a bike, much less got out of the pool after that one ha but am going to try to go for it.  My last race I got 4:46, passed 3 people (my first pool race and I wasnt savvy about passing them without wasting time) and got stuck behind 2 guys getting out of the water.  With that, I think I would have been closer to the 4:14 and I could have raced better that day too.  My bike and run need a lot of work so I wanted to have a good shot at having a nice swim to remember in the off season.

You did what most are doing - so that they can get to the front of the pack - it seems many put a time that is not a realistic number - at the Blackland Tri last week I saw people with single digit numbers doing the side stroke, it is hard not to yell at them but I believe many just don't know.

The advantage of the pool in Keller is it is so wide you can fit 3 people across so even with people giving bad times there is generally not a big problem.  However, if it was a 25 meter pool with 2 way traffice it could turn into a big cluster.  I have yet to do a 25 meter pool swim, luckily Blackland changed at the last minute.  I did not realize it was suppose to be short course when I signed up or I might have skipped it.

I didn't have any trouble getting around anyone in the pool, the lanes were certainly wide enough. The water was pretty warm compared to what I was training in which put me off a bit but then again I'm not much of a speed demon in the water with my 6:45ish.

Hey everyone.  This is my first post here but also, the monster was my first ever tri.  I didn't do great, but hey, I was proud of myself that I finished!  It was a great race and I am glad it seems like a good intro race for me.  Me and my friends (who also did this with me) are now hooked and looking at starting early next season :-)

Welcome to the site, it is a great place to get information and meet some nice people.  Glad you had a good time at the race.  Now to make it to next year when it all starts over again.

Dallas Athletes has a couple of spring races that use that same facility and route,, well I think the st paddys one is the same, and Old college is just up the street but same basic area...

get training,, have fun and welcome aboard

You're right Gary.   Monster is one of the last of the year, and Old College is one of the first of the year.  Its at Carroll High school, then about 3 weeks later its St Paddy's day back on the same course as Monster
