The swim is tomorrow, not Friday, if that makes a difference Stef. Can't do much about bringing Chatham any closer though... I wish I could - it would make the job decision a lot easier!

Can you guys tell me the water condition?

I just signed up for Belle River.  This is going to be my first race this season.

I was out there today...pretty wavy.
Very shallow, except in the dredged area along the breakwall. I don't believe it got any deeper than 4.5 feet. Exiting / Entering the water there are rocks and Zebra muscles... might be advisable to wear water shoes, I did not last year and was fine.
You can swim most of this course.
They are calling for a West south west wind 12 mph ...generally a good thing, a North wind will make it mucky and murky, South wind will clean it up.

I am still planning to attend Thursday nights swim.

I am not sure were you folks meet so wave me over if you see a Blue Durango driving in circles.

Should I bring the bike or leave it at home?

Where do you live David? We could give you really good directions if we know.

Hey Jeff,

I live in Belle River. I shouldn't have any problem getting to the beach but just not sure how many parking areas there are. I am sure there won't be many other people getting ready to swim so it shouldn't be to hard I guess Laughing!!!

How about we pick a spot to meet and I will fallow you. I have a newborn and could get a call to come home at any time. We could meet at Timmie's. Just let me know a time and what you drive.

I shouldn't have any problem getting to the beach but just not sure how many parking areas there are.

Take McCain south from county road 20 to the lake. Just as you reach the lake you pass the yacht club on the left, and there is a small bridge that you pass over just as the road turns to the west to parallel the lake. Just over the bridge there is a small parking lot with a Cedar Beach sign and a small building with changing rooms and washrooms. We will be in that parking lot.

I'll swim and bike if it does not rain; just swim if it rains; and stay home on the sofa watching TV if there is a thunder storm

I won't bike either way, but will also be there to swim if there is rain. If there is thunder or lightning, I will go swim at my gym instead. I'll make the call at 6pm and post, in case anyone might be wondering where I am.

Is there anybody in the Essex County group who's a beginner? I'm totally new to triathlon and am looking for a group to learn & train with but don't want to hold back any of the more experienced folks. Appreciate hooking up with anyone in the same boat!

(PS - Is the "Essex County Tri Club" actually a club with regular meets/workouts/training plans??)

It's a very informal club made of up of people who have met through BT.  We range from beginners to Ironman, ages 25 to 55, from Windsor to Chatham.

You are very much welcome to join us in any event that interests you.  Our meetings are set up by anybody who posts that they are looking to get together!  A bunch of us are currently getting ready for Milton and Belle River this weekend.  Then the next local race is Leamington.

Welcome!

Just checked the weather...looks like it will be sunny @ 7:00pm!

BTW the only reason it is called a tri club is because apparently I didn't know what G2G meant (get together)

I hope you are right Jeff, as of 4:00 it looks pretty scary out there.

I'm with Jeff, I though G2G meant "good to go".

As the others have said, everyone is welcome and the more the merrier. We don't actually train together that often; I think it's more of a support group. It's nice to have friends who "get it", as most of us have friends and family who think we are nuts for doing this

Sorry, I was just teasing! I guess I should have used the tag.

The sun is coming out here and the forecast says cloudy with chance of light showers only, so unless a thunderstorm breaks out in the next hour, I will be at Cedar Beach to swim!

Wow, what a great turnout! 8 swimmers and 3 riders - maybe this should be an official club after all.

It was nice to meet everyone. Good luck at all the races this weekend!
