Thomas, you hijacked your own thread when you brought Texans into it! I was asking about the calibre of Loozyann boys

The BT bylaws state, and I quote "A thread may be hijacked whereupon the hijacker and the originator of said thread are one and the same i.e, of the same body, mind or spirit (for those materialistically challeneged) or in any of the following cases: 1. said thread specifically invites hijacking, 2. initial poster is a dumba** and jsut killing time, thereby welcoming a hijack or 3. you are Welshy.

I meet all three criteria. So by definition, I cannot hijack my own thread.

If you can't hijack your own thread, why do the bylaws bestow upon you the privilege of hijacking?

I think your peanut butter withdrawal is affecting your reasoning abilities.

I am so in, even if it's just walking the half marathon. I'm going to try to run at the end of the week to see where I am.

Any definite plans yet? Where you guys meeting for dinner? Where y'all staying? Rooms are gonna be hard to find as long as FEMA is paying the tab for refugees... Does Noot have room for everyone?

And Renee, my comment would be "Can I drive you anywhere?" Wink

The bylaws give me that ability concerning ALL threads. Further, Hijacking a thread in this sense is a descriptor, offering a term to describe the action you are accusing me of. When I use hijack, it is simply a convienence to aviod such long winded phrases like: Changing the general direction or meaning or purpose of a thread.

Using the term hijack is not the same as hijacking. If I say he hijacked the plane, I did not hijack the plane. Simple.

Bear I'm with you. I might be walking the half too. I'm definitely not doing the full.

Probably bunking at Noot's and the rest of the Oncale compound. There is always the houseboat too! That has at least 4 beds!! I forgot about that!

Hah. Nice try, PB Junkie.

The bylaws excuse the hijack. It's still a hijack.

It's a moot point, anyway. Everyone knows my tangential remarks can save a mundane thread and even make it soar!

About those Loozyann Boys...I like mine just fine, cher!

Car rental...plenty of places near the airport...they shouldn't be renting any flooded ones anymore! just kidding!

Our place is still open if anyone needs to crash.  We're limited on beds, but we have plenty of floor space and a couple of air mattresses.  We also have plenty of room in the Sequoia for carpooling/shuttling/tipsy taxi'ing.

Place to eat...what are we thinking?  Any opinions on location?  We can always do suburbs of Metairie or we can hit Uptown for some great neighborhood places.  Only problem, Saturday is always a long wait.   What about dinner at our house?  Let me know...we're up for it all!

Oh, Derek wants to know if he can bike it.

Haley, are you going to be bringing Donald out of mothballs, or is there a new costume on the agenda?  A donkey, perhaps?

I will be happy to costume it up for the race. Any suggestions? Wonder if I can get my mom to whip up some kind of hurricane costume?

I'm staying in the boonies so dinner Saturday in Metarie or your place would be better for me. If we go uptown, we'd have to do packet pickup late, then dinner and then bedtime would be too late by the time we got home.

I might actually beat you guys if you walk. Then again your "walk" would probably still beat my "run". Either way I'll be there, watching out for Donald or any other costumes I happen to see - I plan to wear my "I'm about to pass out give me some water" costume at the end of the race

The option is still open to go out to dinner, but how does dinner at our house Saturday night sound?   This could go a few ways:

  • I could make a huge gumbo
  • BBQ
  • Spaghetti
  • Lasagna

Any other ideas or suggestions?  Derek and I don't want anyone to feel obligated one way or the other, but we also want to give you out-of-townies some options too.

Isn't that why they call it the Big Easy?
