Let's theorize about this scary license plate...... (Page 2)

OK, we've got:

A criminal defender

A homicide investigator

A ornithologist with a twisted sense of humor

Someone who loves to read murder novels (suggested by a co-worker)

An actual murder or murderess who is "hiding in plain site".

Any other votes?   Polls remain open until I get a response from this person - I hope I hope I hope.

Well, I might be wrong... It may not be crows, but a murder is a group of some sort of animal...

I think you are indeed correct - isn't there a movie called A Murder of Crows?

Saw a license plate on a very nice car that said "WAS HIS".

Bet that was a smooth divorce.

Actually, I bet it's just some dumb punk who likes to talk big, but that's just boring.

No reply as yet - but my note from yesterday is gone, so they have seen it (even though the vehicle is parked in EXACTY the same spot and I thought perhaps they had left it overnight or something).

I was discussing this with my bike group on our ride last night (do you think I might be mildly obsessed?) and someone suggested that maye they are involved with one of the handful of local places where they put on Murder Mystery weekends.  I thought that was a pretty good guess.

MYSTERY SOLVED!!

I just got a phone call from a very nice, harmless sounding lady.  She said "I understand you've got some interest going about our license plate..."  and so I filled her in on how curious a bunch of us have been. Before she'd tell me, she made me tell her all of the guesses that had been made, and she said that we are a very clever bunch!  Then she said we were going to be very disappointed with the boring answer, which is......

IT'S THEIR LAST NAME.

I was like, awwwww, that's so anticlimactic!  She commiserated with me that it is, said she couldn't get her husband to take her last name, so instead they've had all of these interesting conversations with people who want to know about their plate....then since this is Iowa and we're all so dang friendly, we proceeded to chit chat about where I work in relation to where her husband works since we share the same parking lot, what he does and what I do and blah de blah de blah.....she was very friendly.

So there you have it - hope you enjoyed our little mystery!

Oh well, it gave us something to think about and she probably got a kick out of it. I never woulda guessed!

Especially since it's a rather uncommon name.

I checked Iowa white pages on the internet and came up with only 2 listings for the state.

Hey, I just checked that out myself.  Must be the people in Palo, because that's only 11 miles from here in Cedar Rapids.  If you looked up my crazy last name, you'd only find ONE - my parents! But that's because my brother and I are unlisted.  There is absolutely no one in the state of Iowa with my last name who is not related to me!  Come to think of it, if I put my last name on my license plate, people would think I worked for Dasani, or AquaFina or perhaps Perrier! 

"Danny's not here, Mrs. Torrence."

Murders?  Transylvanian, maybe?
