Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() As big of a Bama fan that I am, I agree, Ingram's chances took a big hit last night. Call it the "Sports Illustrated Jinx." I think Mark was playing injured all, night, as he was just not hitting the hole like he normally does. Everyone has a bad game, but his coming so late in the season, ( last reguar game) really hurts. I hope he can be rested a healed by the time of the SECCG. RTR! |

The guy is the glue that gets it done for the gators. He makes the 4th down happen nearly on command. One loss last season, none this season, going for a third possible national championship in his 4 yr college career, rushing machine, team igniter - Harvin, Demps, Rainey, Cooper wouldn't be who they are w/o Tebow. Pointing out what happened in prior seasons also kills your credibility. Like the OP said, this isn't a lifetime achievement award. Still though, losing their best receiver and marching them on this year is a big deal. We have to agree that the results of the Nat'l championship game will play big into the results. Perfect season w/ nat'l championship = big deal. My big thing is getting folks to at least acknowledge that his non-numericals, his inspiration factor, make him incredible. |

With how bad we have been over the last 7 or so years, just being bowl eligible is a huge jump forward. 8 wins next year and then possibly competing for the Pac 10 title in 2011. Once your school has 100 national titles, you can start talking. |

![]() ![]() | ![]() Bro, I live in Louisville, Ky. Our team here is terrible. I'd love to be bowl eligible this year. As far as the Pac 10 goes, I'm for anyone that can potentially put a whoopin on USC. |

This is the closest the talent levels have been between the two teams in the last decade. It should be a good rivalry game. |

Perfect example is that the heisman changes with the week with what ESPN is trying to play up to get ratings. Hence Tebow, Pioli, Clausen, now Colt McCoy. The espn hyping the Heisman front runner is a joke, and real candidates like Mardy Gilyard, Kellen Moore, Jerry Hughes you never hear over whatever flavor or star the USC's, Texas's, Florida, Notre Dame, etc... is pedaling. Hope Gephardt gets it but the best player in the nation imho is still Jahvid Best! Jahvid Best? He got shut down in back to back games against Oregon and USC. Talent wise though he is AWESOME! Think he will have an unbelievable NFL career. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Gerhart has to win the Heisman. He carried them to a nice win today and amassed over 200 yards rushing, 3 rushing TD, and a passing TD. He was demolishing all of the ND defense. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think Gerhardt is guaranteed a trip to New York now. 29 carries, 205 yards, 3 TDs 1 rec, 33 yds 1/1 passing, 18 yds, TD (on 4th and 4 on the 18 to tie the game with 8 minutes to go) All on a nationally televised evening game |

I'd go with Suh, Colt, Gerhart, & Ingram in that order. The only reason Ingram is #4 is because I think Bama would still win 10+ games with either of the 2 RBs behind him in the DC. He's a great RB, but I think he's more replaceable w/ other guys on his team than the other 3. Suh is a f*cking beast & probably the best player in the list. It's like watching Reggie White play against a Pop Warner team most weeks. |

You can really still put Colt in New York after his performance last night? His season stats are good, but his performance in big games has been pretty awful. Oklahoma: 21/39 for 127 yards, 1TD/1INT, 14 carries for 33 yards Nebraska: 20/36 for 184 yard, 0TD/3INT, 17 caries for -20 yards I had to laugh whe one of the announcers said last night that even though his stats weren't that great, the current drive was what could make McCoy a Heisman winner. Part of the reason that they needed big plays late was how poorly he was playing. I believe that was right before his 3rd pick. |

TV and the entire media are one reason why the trophy doesn't have the prestige it used to. Like I said, it is difficult to say who is the best, but much easier to say who isn't. |

Part of the reason that they needed big plays late was how poorly he was playing. I believe that was right before his 3rd pick. I look at the Heisman as a MVP award of sorts, and that's part of how I ordered my list. There's no question that if Colt was gone at the beginning of the year(to the pros or injury), Texas would have been somewhere around 7-5 or 8-4. None of the other finalists mentioned would have that large an impact on their team. I would argue that while last night & the OU game were big games, games like Oklahoma State(who gives Texas fits year in and year out) & A&M were nearly as big and Colt shined in both games. In fact, leading up to this game he had a series of 4-5 games where he was playing at '08 levels. Am I saying he should win it? Not really, but I think he deserves to be in NYC as a finalist. Nobody's really separated themselves this year, you can make solid arguments for several players. One thing that I think is an important note: nowhere in the Heisman guidelines does it say that the award is a seasonal award. If we're going based on a career, I think Colt tops that list. I also realize that most people treat it like a seasonal award rather than a career award, and I can understand that point of view. It would probably help if the Heisman people clarified the intent of the award, but they probably like the controversy. |
