If anyone is interested we should meet up for check in and grab a bite to eat. If there are any who have'nt done Long Beach or a Tri at all it would be a great opportunity for questions and answers.

I would do this one since it's so close to where I live, but the SD Classic is the same weekend and it'll be my first Oly. Bummer. Next year though!

I would be more than happy to meet up at some time. I do have to take my son to soccer on that day before I pick up packets and such. Let me know. Anybody know where the turn around for the run when you go down the beach is?? I ran the course today and could not figure it out. I know you turn left out of transition and then go down for a while turn around, and then come back past transition to the next turn around on the peninsula. The map really suck on the Pacific Sports website

You're right. There is a left turn out of transition. In 2007 the turn around was random and not far up the beach. There wasn't any particular landmark, just some volunteers and a cone, as I recall. The other turn around is at the end of the bike path, past Shoreline and the view of the Queen Mary.

Okay, I ran down to the bathrooms right there and then turned around and headed the other way. I don't know if that was right, but it seemed like there was enough turn around space

The transition area is in the parking lot behind Alfredo's Beach Club.  As you come out on the run you turn left heading back down the beach (toward the swim start).  I think the turnaround is usually somewhere between the first truck crossing sign and the lifeguard tower--you'll be able to see the turnaround as soon as you make the left turn.  After the turnaround you go past the transition area, down along the marina, out the breakwater to the end and back.  There's usually a fluid station at the land end of the breakwater (where it makes a 90 degree turn on the map) that you'll hit twice.

ME TOO!    My kids and hubby have been sick and I have been doing everything I can to try and stay healthy, but still have the sore throat and bit of congestion.  I guess it could be worse...we could have the flu or an injury.  Get some vitamins and rest!

Yeahhh I just came up with a head cold this week, Vit. C and Dynamo juice loading for sure. Hoping I'm not too stuffed to breath well!

Is anyone interested in swimming the course tomorrow after pickups?

Remember first-timers there's an orientation/guide session at 10am and 2:30 pm! (I'll be there!)
