Continuing with the subject of hills, now I'm freaking out about that last hill coming back in on Watson Road. At the beginning of last year I seemed to have no trouble. This year I'm having a heck of a time keeping up a decent speed. Seems like I'm crawling the last 1/4 of it. I have tried standing and staying seated. Is one better than the other?

Are you talking about the hill after the turn around just after you go over that bridge? I've only rode it once but I remember having a really hard time on it. I've been practicing alot on hills around my place to try and prepare myself for it. Hopefully my training pays off. I'm hoping that since it's my first race adrenaline will give me an extra boost. I usually sit while going up hills but standing every once in awhile will help.

No, and that's the weird part. I know the hill you are referring to and I can handle that one, almost to the point of saying I don't find it hard. The hill I mean is the very last one, a bit before you turn left to go back into the park. It doesn't look like a bad hill, even looks short, but it's giving me grief. I am going over today with some friends to do a s/b/r and will see what I can do trying to stay seated.

Hmmm that's weird, Like I said i've only ridden the course once for practice and I don't remember having a problem with the one you are refering too. I guess everyone is different. Well hopefully with both be able to conquer our respective hills. Good luck!

Ok folks, forecast is up! Sunny and 18*C so we won't roast to death.

Couldn't ask for better weather IMO.

18 sounds good as long as there isn't a lot of wind, I'll take heat over wind.

So everyone from BT is supposed to mark BT on their left calf? well it won't be hard to find me, I'll be the guy with tattoo's covering his left leg.

Hi Elly,

My name's Anne. I'll be at Guelph Lake but only doing the tri-a-tri this time (coming back from an injury). Tristar1 (Carol) will also be doing the Sprint. I was wondering where people got a high of 18 degrees from. The weather network has said 24 for the last few days.

The Weather Network said 18* on saturday night. But thats the nature of forecasting I guess.

OK, I'm really getting excited now! Just checked the weather and the wind is only supposed to be a 10 km/hr W wind. Don't think we could get much better than that. Keep your fingers crossed they're right.

Hey latestarter earlier in the wek the weather network said 18-19 for a few days in a row yesterday it changed to 23-24 so the usual guesscast. I am doing the Try-a-Tri as well make sure to mark you leg with a BT . I was in the Lake a week and a 1/2 ago and the water was perfect (much nicer than Milton was) Looking forward to Sat see you all there.

Great! I'm glad someone else is doing the try-a-tri. You did Milton? The weather scared me away, and I went for Lakeside instead. I'm a fair weather girl.

Yeah I did the Sprint in Milton that was the hardest race I have run yet. I am building up to my first Oly in Sept. The Try - a Tri at GL1 is a family event with my older brother son and daughter all in the Try together sort of a fun race/training for me. Look forward to seeing you there what AG are you in? I am in 45-49

I have a girl friend (45-49) who did the Milton Sprint as well. She's good but she said it was tough. She is doing her 1st Olympic at Guelph this weekend. I'm using this as a training race for 3 longer races later this season - Belwood, Orillia and Owen Sound. Can't say it will be easy enough for me to call it a "fun" race I'm in 55-59 because of where my birthday falls; otherwise I'd be 50-54. Less competition, but I'd rather have more in my age group. Seems to be more men in that group. See you Saturday. I'm always there REALLY early. Like to relax and take in the atmosphere. Think I mentioned this before; there is more to it than the race. It's all about fitness and fun!

On the hill issue are dropping into your lower gear ranges and spinning or trying to mash up in a high gear? I have found dropping to a lower gear and spinning I actually keep a better pace or can actually accelerate a bit on short hills like that one. It is short but fairly steep I know it well, have ridden the course 3 times, training rides out there regulary and I used to live in the farmhouse on the right just after that hill. Looks like a great weekend for racing see you all there

Anyone with nothing to do Fri or Sat night come on out to Fergus and check out the play I am in "The lost Princess Anastasia" a great local musical production all proceeds to charity!!

Thanks for the tip on getting up that hill, Tri-ing at 45. I was biking, running and swimming in my dreams last night and decided I WOULD try to spin up the hill. See you tomorrow.

Thanks for the wishes, Tristar 1. Hope you have an awesome race!
