KLynne - 2007-01-03 10:00 PM

By the way Ellen, do we need to post a weekly or monthly plan, so you can guide us? I'm setting up mine now and I didn't know if you wanted to see it.

I think that's an awesome idea!  How about we all post a weekly plan (if you want to that is) and what our goal is for that week.  I know that when I have a week laid out in front of me I am happy if I make about 80% of it.  I doubt that I've ever completely followed thru with a plan since I'm a "wing-it" type.

I like the idea of accountability

I'm definitely a wing-it type as well!  McFuzz just asked me this morning what my exercise was looking like for today and I told him I may go to use the treadmill.  If it's as nice out as it looks I may brave the cold air and go for a real run not a dreadmill run.  We'll see.  I'll have to work on the weekly plan though.

My training plan is posted on my blog and I'll update each week, but here it is for next week. Very time consuming.

Day 1: 4 miles, Day 2: 5 miles, Day 3: 4 miles, Day 4: 11 miles Total : 24 miles

hope everyone is having a nice weekend.  I know I am    The massage was awesome but next time I'm gonna book 2 hours instead of one.  I was definitely NOT ready to leave in an hour.

My training plan is also on the left side of my log, and it starts on the 14th.  This will be my plan for the Mooseman Half, and I suppose I should actually register for the silly thing one of these days!

So how was everyone's weekend?  Mine was busy, busy, busy.  The skiing was awful, and so was the bus ride up and back.  I'd still do it again tho

So, what did you do?

I've been getting ready for my father to visit.  We just moved into a new home and he's coming to help with fixer-upper projects. (and to give my mom a break )  I also got in my long walk on Sunday (10 miles), next Saturday he'll walk with us, since he's the one who sucked us into the march!

OKAY!! I went for a run on the treadmill and was planning on a bike but the bikes were full in the cardio room.  Decided that I was gonna go home and watch the football game but when I got to the locker room I decided to go ahead and swim.

It was an awesome swim.  I set a time limit of 15 minutes.  I used to swim 500 yards in 30 minutes but today (after a 25 minute run) I swam 400 yards in 15 minutes and could have gone longer!!!! I felt great!  This was definitely needed to reduce some of the stres taht has been building over the last 2 days.  I feel like I'm starting to get back on track.

How is everyone else doing?  We are a pretty quiet bunch!  McFuzz's group talks ALOT (they even talk to me through inspires).

I'm so proud of you!  Good job on swimming BEFORE the football game!  Swimming is hard, but the best part about it, is that you see results quickly.  Last May when I started training I had never swam more than on length of a pool.  The last time I swam (two months ago, yikes!!!) I could swim a mile without stopping.  Keep up the good work girl!!!

glad that you got a run and a swim in!  As much as I like to run (and can't do as much as I'd like to), swimming just agrees with my body more than anything else.  I find it relaxing and invigorating all at the same time.

Hope everybody's workouts are going good for them.  I missed a day of workouts so I used my day of rest to make up for it.  I'm trying to keep my head down when I swim to try and get my hips up and my legs from dragging.

Any ideas if this is the right way to go about it?

I have a couple of ideas for you.  Try swimming with a pull buoy.  It will keep your legs and hips up and give you an idea of where they should be.

To keep your head down, put a tennis ball under your chin and keep it squeezed between your chin and chest.  It's tough to do, but it makes you aware of where your head should be.  It also helps with your breathing since you have to rotate the whole body and not just your head.

It's hilarious to watch the kids in my classes do that drill!

I'm here!!  I missed my workout yesterday because I got sidetracked with putting the house in order before the next semester starts.  Today I'm scheduled for a run and its likely to be on the dreadmill since it's raining pretty steadily outside.

Haven't decided if I'm going to try and make up part of my workout from yesterday or not.

well, at least there is football to keep me company today and tomorrow.  But tomorrow I am going to get in the pool even if it kills me.

KLynne, 9 and a half miles is nothing to sneeze at!  Give yourself plenty of credit for that!

I was sooo hoping that today would be arest day but it's not.  NOOO--- it's a swim AND bike day.  Individually I can do those two pretty well but combined is never very pretty.  Whatever I do last suffers the most.  I haven't decided if I'm going to bike first since thats where my weakness is right now or swim first so that I can work on my form.  Working on my form may cause my distance to suffer alittle though.

Maybe you should do a shorter work-out on each so that you can really focus and so neither suffers?  It's the off season, a great time to work on form...

The  training plan I'm on is pretty basic (read as no previous activity) so i try to at least do what it suggests.   Sometimes I even do a little more.  I don't want to miss to many days of workouts because then I lose my motivation to continue on.  It only takes one or twon days of missed workouts for my discipline/motivation to start to disappear.

yep, once that mojo heads out the door it's tough to get it back.  Doing a little something every day is better than doing nothing if you ask me

That's why I go to the gym even if I don't think I have time!  I have to really force myself once school gets started.  I'll have 19 hours this semester and projects more than I will be able to count.  There will always be some reason why I "can't" go workout.  It's usually those times when I really need to.  You guys may have to be  my kick in the pants.
