Subject: RE: Musselman 1/2 IronmanOk, I just confirmed that BT will be sponsors again this year!! We'll be running the aid stations for the run course at the mini-mussel on Saturday morning and the ITU Pan American cup on Saturday afternoon. We'll also have a tent in the State Park on both days for BTers to get a bit of shade and meet up with each other.
Sarah, to answer your questions: I use an aerobottle for water and keep my carb drink in a regular bottle. The aerobottle can be refilled on the fly and the carb drink can just be handed up. Don't put carb drinks in an aerobottle. You and your bike will both end up sticky.
I don't recall if there are porta potties on the bike course, you'll have to check with the RD, Jeff Henderson. Lots of people just stand up and let go. Please check behind you first.
A nutrition plan is a very individual thing that you'll have to work out by trial and error on your long workouts. On the bike at HIMs I alternate carb drink and water every 10 minutes and eat solid food every 20. I start with clif bars then change to gels after 2 hours. Bear in mind that I'm also very slow. See you in Geneva!
