I made 65 in 2 min., took a break and finished it off 5 at a time.

This week, one day, I will do 5 push ups + 1 chin up x 20 = 100 push ups and 20 chin ups.  I hope I can type afterwards and tell you how it went.

This is perfect...I'm gonna do the test tonight and then I'm gonna have the other half do it too.  This will be great for his strength next month.  And for mine!  I don't think I can do 100 all at once, I can probably push out 85 or so...we'll see tonight.  I'll start the program on 8/1 with Brian.

I have this challenge on my schedule to start as soon as I finish SimpleFit. So that puts me starting around labor day. I might test out at a higher level after SF. I know I can do 20-25 with excellent form right now.

Sounds like we have a big group growing!  Whoever reaches 100 first wins!  I am going to skip the rx'd workout today and just bang out as many as I can to see where I am halfway through the schedule.  I'm hoping for 60+.

I saw this thread last week and sent the link out to a couple of buddies of mine, and we're all starting today.  I'll post an update tomorrow once I've done the initial tests.

This looks awesome.  Funny, just yesterday I did 25 push-ups straight before I took my shirt off to go in the pool.  Tonight I'll see how many I can do until failure.  Thirteen years ago, when I was 20 years old, I was able to do a little over 70 straight.  It'll be interesting to see if at 33 I can top that.  My birthday is in early September and I'd love to try and be able to do 100 push-ups before my 34th birthday.  Count me in.

Can I join you? I always wanted to do 100! I just "TTed" my pushups and managed 30. What is the best approach to reach 100? How many times a week will you guys recommend to do pushups?

OK...so I did the test tonight.

74.  I collapsed on 75 and I couldn't even get up for like 30 seconds after I was done.  I had to just lie there and shake.  I really thought I could get to 80...but I guess I have some work to do!

I will start Week 1, Day 1 tomorrow!

Okay, I did 36 push-ups straight after swimming 2100m!  I'm downloading the program now and will advise of my progress.

I'm big on trying to use my own body weight to strengthen my muscles, rather than use free weights.  I want to end up looking like Bruce Lee, not Lou Ferigno!

x2 friend.

I started this challange about 2 weeks ago, but then I noticed that I had a huge gap between the first 4 (5?) sets and the max set.  I felt they should be closer together, so two nights ago I did the initial test again to make sure I was starting out at the right spot.  I'm doing Week 1, Day 1 tonight!

Just saw this.

Took the test already. Starting the workout tonight.

Won't win the challenge, but can't wait to see how many I will be able to do six weeks from now!

Question: Okay, so as long as according to our initial test we can do more than 10 push-ups, we are all on the same column and program?  Am I reading this plan right?  Really there are only 3 levels (columns) which to train by?

Yep you got it.  I kinda feel stupid now going all the way to 74 when I could have just stopped at 11.  But it was cool to see how long it'd take me to fall on the floor prostrate!

Thanks!  I can't wait to go back and do it again some time.  Sooooooo beautiful there.

I'm about to do Week 1 Day 2 of the challenge.  Hopefully I will get something good...I did a lot of pushups in my CF this morning.

I think the point was to go all the way to 74.  As the weeks go by you end up doing like 80 or so over the first four rounds and then you max out in the fifth still.  So, that 74 may end up dropping as the weeks go by.  Although, it could increase too!

OK. I did it yesterday. I think I could've gone to 150 push ups and 25 chin ups. Tomorrow, I'll try to see how many I can do in a row. It won't be 100!

Had to put this off for at least a week.  Overdid triceps dips and wound up with wicked tendon pain in my elbow.  It's now mostly painfree, but I'll give it another week just to be on the safe side.  I don't want to injure myself in a way that could force me to put aside my favorite part of training: swimming.

just curious - where is that pain in your elbow?   I started trying to incorporate pull-ups into my workouts and have this nagging pain on the inside of my elbow.
