Why do saddles have a nose? (Page 2)

There's no gel.

There is, indeed, two gel strips on either side, near the centre of the Adamo saddle, where your ischial tuberosities (sit bones) should be positioned. The Race and Road models have the same amount of gel, but the Road model actually has more foam padding on top of the gel. The Typhoon model has more gel than either of the other models (they call it Ultra Gel), with more padding (a full 1 inch) on top of the gel. 

Because if they didn't, then the term "on the rivet" wouldn't have any meaning.

More and more pro cyclists are actually cutting off the nose of their saddle to get their seat position farther forward on their TT bikes.

Got to love the UCI rules that the nose of the saddle needs to be a certain distance from the center line of the bottom bracket.  To give yourself an advantage?  Cut the nose off!

Interesting.  I've never seen that anywhere.  I have one and don't feel any gel either.

The specs of each Adamo model are described on both the BlackwellResearch.com and ismseat.com websites and detail the gel/foam padding.  I think it might have been either Tom Demerly's or Dan Empfield's online review that actually spoke of slicing the seat open with a box cutter to prove the non-existence of any gel, but were wonderstruck to actually find some
