You love to run, you love to run, you love to run! But if you want to take this month off, it's cool with me :P FYI: Barb (runningjayhawk) is back and on my team this month. She loves to bike, you love to run, I love to swim. |

Hi Beth... That's interesting... How do you learn to like running more and more?? If there is something like a 10-step program - I NEED it...!!! Probably step 1 "join a challenge", step 2 "join a challenge", step 3 "join a challenge"..... ???? :-) Kathrin Joining the challenges were definitely a start, it sort of forced me to at least try running. Probably the main thing was to change my attitude about it Someone much wiser than me challenged me to quit telling myself that I couldn't do it and that I hated it and to just do it, funny thing happened, I started to learn to appreciate the good things about running Some of the other things were that I had to quit comparing myself to others from a speed and or distance perspective and just focus on the progress I was making from a personal standpoint. And the final ingrediant for me was to take it slow, just like I would never expect someone could swim a mile if they had never swam before, I should expect myself to run like the wind when this is a new disicpline The walk/run approach has really worked for me - I've built to the point during the last 7 months or so that I can actually run 6 miles without walking, but I took it very slowly I hope this helps |

My name is Phil (introduced earlier via Beth), and I used to be a big challenge fanatic at the end of last year. I'm quite glad that we have Beth, Cat, and Kendra (and pushing to get LazyMarathoner with us - she'd be a good fit) - THEY BE DA BOMB! I have finished IM Moo '07, and have started training for IM Moo '09 starting with some "light" work for the next few weeks - Z2 training is crucial! I am a recovering Pad-a-holic, but now with this team, may fall off the wagon. Thanks, ladies. Let's do well and make our presence known!! bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! The suspense of whether or not I'll be added to the team is killing me! I cant say no to Phil... jump in... will get the details up when I get to work but just assume you are here! |

I'm Emily. I'm signed up for 45 miles this month. My challenge team from last month was very "motivating". (I'm not afraid of Mila. I'm not afraid of Mila. I'm not afraid of Mila.) Apparently I respond very well to intimidation so if appear to be slacking off feel free to threaten me. With that being said I am going to go talk to Dee and see if I can get a temp permit to use her caddle prod. Will that keep you motivated??? I have a feeling you'll have to knock Dee the heck out before you can even get close to that cattle prod. She's rather attached to that thing. |

Extreme Veteran 530 Northwest Louisiana | Subject: RE: The Mysterious Dark Arts I LOVE the team name!! Ultra cool!!! I'm a 35 year old female from Northwest Louisiana, training for my very first full marathon. I started sprint tris in 2006 and took a bit of a hiatus in 2007 after completing my first half marathon. Got the itch to start back to training and now am looking at accomplishing a life goal for this marathon. Will be attempting the White Rock Marathon in Dallas in December. Someone talked about loving running. I fell in love with running after my half, but lost the love a bit, hence the hiatus. Now I'm trying to find the love again....where is the love, ya'll, where is the love, the love? (sorry, Black Eye Pea moment) I have to count my mileage for the month, but it should be around 70 I think? Anyway, I have to catch up on all the posts....you guys seem to know each other. I look forward to being a part of a cool team. I'm really excited!! |
