Make sure to try to stretch it also.  The butterfly stretch will probably stretch that muscle.

So, is anyone doing anything fun this weekend for the holiday?  Good workouts planned?

Thanks! I'll make sure to include that one before my next workout, and make sure I'm doing it throroughly.

As for weekend plans, nope... nothing exciting. I have today off of work, which is nice. I was going to go camping but it turns out my housemates want to go, too, so I have to wait until next weekend. I'm borrowing one of their bikes today, so I'll be riding for the first time in a very long time but I'm really looking forward to it. Nothing huge, just the five miles into town. If it goes really well, maybe I'll attempt riding back, too!

I am going to a barbeque tonight (glad the weather is cooperating!).

Tomorrow I'm going to a horse group with a group of 60 people.  A friend rents a bus and caters it.  It should be fun.  Lots of drinking.  Last year, people didn't even see horses.  Lots of craziness.  I'm looking forward to it, but Im a little apprehensive too.  I don't drink a ton, so I hope I still have fun.

For the rest of the weekend, I have to revise a grant that's due Wednesday for my dissertation.  Getting feedback for my graduate advisers on Monday, so I have a lot to do.

Hey Jen!
Can I join?
I need someone that can give me KIA's (I still haven't done that 9 mi today, and don't think it will happen due to my sinuses )

I can post my full bio later (trying not to look at cptr screen for too long in one shot - the headache is finally kind of going away and I'd like to at least try and get a few miles in today)

Looks like this could end up being a fun ladies group

I wanted to get in a 8-9 mile run today but spent the day hiding from tornados instead Surprised.  Taking the grandkids Easter egg hunting tomorrow but may still try to sneak my run in tomorrow evening.  I'd love to get a bike ride in Sunday, but it's hard to say how that will go.

My first bike ride is complete. I have to clock the mileage with the truck, because I'm not sure how far it was. I only rode for abou 25 minutes, though, and it really kicked my butt. Some rolly hills, nothing extreme, but man... just emphasizes how much I need to be doing this!! Despite the effort and fatigue (and probably muscle-soreness) I really enjoyed the ride. I'd forgotten how much it is!

no need to go drive it, just use the route creator... I checked, it even has satellite mapped for your area   Just don't be looking for any roads that have been built in the past few years, it's not always that current.

Hello Everyone...

NAME:  Heather/geauxtri

STORY:  It all came about by two small things... one, my co-worker wanted me to take her slot on a tri that she wasn't able to go to.  I told her I didn't even know how to swim (she thought I was joking) but she kept pushing me.  It got me searching online to learn more.  Second, by November I had challenged my husband that I was going to do a tri, what was going to be his goal.  We were both gaining weight steadily without any set goals in sight.
I danced when I was little through high school, I taught aerobics and personal trained in college, I got daring in the outdoors during grad school here in Utah, but I NEVER considered myself an athlete (and I still don't).
So I got in the pool at work Dec 2007 (nearly 8 yrs after starting work there), in Jun of 2008 I did my first sprint.  Did my second in Aug (first OWS).   Now I'm hooked and am planning on my first Oly in Sept and STRONGLY contemplating NOLA 1/2 next year.

FAMILY STATUS:  Married, two boys (6/3), One dog, one cat, and some fish

CURRENT TRAINING:  uuuhhhh... balance???....  yeah, you know what they say the car mechanic's car is broken, the carpenter's house is falling apart,... well the Ex Phys (yes, my master's in in Ex Phys) never takes the time to write her own plan so I just GEAUX!!!!

THIS YEAR'S RACES:  April 18 (1/2 Mary); May 30 (Sprint); Jun 6 (60 something miler); Aug 22 (Sprint); Sept 12 (Olympic)
What sucks is that now that I'm a year older I'm in a more competitive division, not that I'm looking to podium or anything... I just want to be MOP.

WEIGHTLOSS:  I was 167 at my heaviest (but I'm only 5'2"... okay 5'1.5" )  Today I'm 153 (well almost).  At my best in grad school I was 130... I want to be between 135 and 140.

I really like the route creator for that.  I used to drive routes until they added that feature.

I enjoy the support that a mentor group provides. I would love to join your group if there is still room. What do you say?

I'd never used that before, very cool, thanks! The route creator's official ruling on the distance of my bikeride.... 4.21 miles.

Got a great 8.5 mile run in today.  The weather was perfect - 50+ degrees and partly cloudy.  I have a half marathon in two weeks and lost a lot of training time due to an injury in February (I had actually wanted to do the full marathon but not a chance now).  I hope I am not pushing it too hard but I don't want to be too unprepared.

Nice job on the run today!  If the run went well today (sounds like it did), I think you will be ok on 8.5 miles.  My longest run before my first 1/2 marathon was 9 miles and that turned out to be my best one.

I am looking for a mentor if you will have me.

Name: Micah (m55morris)

Story
:  I have been trying to get bake in shape for the last few years.  In college I was very active in very good shape.  After college I gained over a 100 pounds and became a complete couch potato.  I have made attempts throughout the last 8 years to get my health back mostly through lifting weights and diet.  That has worked for awhile but I don't enjoy pushing iron like I used to.

I have always been impressed with tris and it is one of those things I told myself I would do someday but have always made excuses to avoid training for them.  My wife and I had a little girl this last fall, and I finally decided I had to change what I was doing.  The end of Jan start of Feb I got serious about my training, signing up on BT and started logging my workouts and nutrition.   I also signed up for my first 5k and sprint tri ever.  My 5k is this next week on friday.

I live in Minnesota, so most of work outs have been indoors so far and have been finding the transition to outdoor workouts to be very different.  Humbly is most likely the best way to explain them.

Family Status:  Married, one daughter 7 months old.

Current Training
: I am training 6 days a week, trying to build a strong endurance base.  I started out walking on a treadmill in Feb for 20 minutes and have worked up to running for 52 minutes so far.  My plan is to hit 60 minutes and then to work on improving speed.  I am working on transitioning from a stationary bike to riding on a new bike.  My swim workouts are slowly coming along.  A friend of mine is a swim coach so I am starting to take lessons to clean up my swimming tech.

This Year's Races: Earth day 5k, and the Buffalo sprint tri.  I am also debating doing a duathlon  in May, but not sure yet, the running scars me.

Weightloss: At one point I was 354 pounds, dieted down to 300 and then gained back to 334, which is was my current starting point.  I having been working on losing weight while training for tris.  I have a goal weight of 230 pounds which should take me close to a full year or longer.

Long term plans: To run a oly tris 2010, half-mary 2010.  When I get through these I will be shooting at a HIM and full mary.
