Master 1726 Sacramento, California | Subject: RE: Fighting Artichokes - September End of Summer Challenge losta - 2009-09-02 10:01 PM I've got 2 hours on the bike the past two days. I'm hoping to swim and run tomorrow. I am going away for the weekend and that will involve 7-8 hour drives two of the days. I am bringing my bike and hope to bike and run a bit while away. What does everyone have planned for the labor day weekend? I am going to my parent's house in Ohio. AND I get to ride along side my husband while he does an 18 mile run! YIPEE! |

I did my BSc. in Honors Physiology here too and was accepted at University of Calgary and Alberta...so I decided to stay home rather than move down the highway to Calgary, haha! I definately understand what you mean by wanting orientation to be done so you can rest! haha...we still have 2 parties (ones a pubcrawl) and a BBQ and I have a sprint on Sun!!! AHhhh! So suffice it to say my next two parties will be sober ones! Not that it even matters! Why are med parties sooooo crazy? |

Master 1641 Seattle, California | Subject: RE: Fighting Artichokes - September End of Summer Challenge Hey team thought I would check in and say hi . I'm James and I hail from the wonderful city of Victoria BC. Basically I took a month break after my Ironman in 2007 and it turned into 2 years! August was my first full month back at training and I'm looking forward to reaching my goals again this month. I'm going to have to modify my swim goal however. I strained my shoulder on a canoe trip and it just is not letting me swim more then a few hundred meters. I will probably change the swim goal to a strength training goal unless anyone has any objections. Nice to meet you all! |

Seeing as how you did more then one I assume you've been bitten by the tri bug. It can be quite addictive can't it! Good luck with training for the half. |

Master 1641 Seattle, California | Subject: RE: Fighting Artichokes - September End of Summer Challenge ilucy2 - 2009-09-02 4:22 AM Morning! I put my goals at 30 mi run, 240 min bike, and 9 weight sessions. I ran all of Aug with my hip out, and was told to rest because the tissue is ticked off. Yeah that does not sit with me. However, the pain and swelling does temper it a bit. I had a 1/2 mary on 9-20, but am reducing it to a stupid 10k. Had to cancel my 1/2 in Oct too. Injuries blow! Just treat recovery with as much commitment as you approach your training and you will be off and running again at full tilt in no time. |

Master 1641 Seattle, California | Subject: RE: Fighting Artichokes - September End of Summer Challenge van_paulus - 2009-09-02 1:11 PM Hi Team
swim 15000 m run 80 miles bike 200 miles I hit two of these goals last month . The swim has been the hardest to make happen due to pool hours and work and all .I have a long sprint race on Sept 13 th . And after that i am looking at doing a longer event in mid october. My limiter is the swim so I really need to bear down this month. Training is thin this week due to the wildfires and the bad air quality.
Good luck on hitting your goals. We have had a crazy wildfire season up in BC this year as well. One ended up getting pretty close to my parents place and they were put on evacuation alert. Pretty scary stuff. |

Although if I were you I would pick up and leave to BC as soon as possible . Amazing tri scene out here. I was doing a 10k loop at a local running spot last weekend and Simon Whitfield, Kyle Jones, and Lorne Groves were all out running. Simon was doing intervals. He ran past me back and forth about 4 times and each time he pasted me like I was standing still. That mans speed is unreal! |
