Hi Team ,   this month I will focus on bike and run with a swim  and ice hockey session a week.

Looking at completing a century ride and a hilly half marathon in March.

wgraves7582 - 2010-02-01 10:48 AM Morning - started the day off with a fun bootcamp conditioning class which I detest more than anything in the world

Put a little recovery swim in afterwards.

This evening I shall take the bike out on the snowmobile trails and have some good old fashioned bike fun!

Have a great day everyone!

I'm curious about a few things here, Bill.
1) What kind of tires do you have that work well on the snowmobile trails?  (I'm scared to ride around in the city when there's snow on the street - I go skidding everywhere!)
2) What's your winter bike gear?  (I'm hoping to take my bike out before the challenge is up, but I'm not quite sure what I can wear to make Boston Feb temps tolerable.)
and last, but not least:
3) How does one get the rank of "Dorkface"?

1 - I have a 26" mountain bike and I have some 2.3 tires that I deflate to around 20-30 psi and if the trails are packed down enough I get some pretty good flow going.  Right now I have a studded front tire because it has been pretty icy out and I hope this helps keep me upright.  I only bring my road type bike out if I know the roads are clear and then I still ride with my cross tires just in case.

2 - http://enduranceeventtraining.blogspot.com//>     Shameless plug for my blog that I have recently posted some different layering options towards mid-January time frame on it.  Plus I am in Buffalo area so our weather is probably pretty comparable (except snowfall amounts!)

3 - A previous challenge landed me on a great team and we have been together since Halloween time frame.  One of the members started calling me dorkface for some unknown reason.  So I received an e-mail from Marma that I was qualified?? for a custom status and I went with dorkface in honor of Stacie.  By the end of the month you might just agree with her

Just to clarify.. I am not the Stacie he lists above.

Hey there Kisses.
I am Robin. This month I am gonna LOVE my running. I am doing my first 1/2 M this spring on hills and on the trail. I need to be LOVING running.

Nice to see familiar faces and some new folks too. Heya Dorkface! (LOVE saying that).

See ya tomorrow all- going for my run while the snow is slushy rather than icy.

Hey Bill -
Are you doing RAGBRAI? Is that what TransIowa V6 is? Just curious since I am from Iowa. That is cool if you are.

Hey Team -
I put a team "roster" together for my blog. If you want to use it you can, if you don't that is fine as well.
February Challenge
Kisses

It should have lips that show up - hopefully it still does when it goes into your log.

Stacie - no TransIowa is a gravel ride in the middle of Iowa - we leave out of Grinnell this year.

It is about 320 miles and there is a time limit of 32 hours or so to complete.  Basically you start riding at 4:00am and hope to be make each checkpoint in the allotted time allowed.  Fun times!!!!

Very cool. I know where Grinnell is - I graduated from Iowa State in Ames and have a sister in Ankeny just north of Des Moines. Rest of family is on the "east coast" of Iowa. Not sure how a gravel road ride would be but GOOD LUCK!

Got in a bit of strength - lower body and a bike ride (trainer) tonight. That puts me a good start on the goals.

Just finished my 3400m swim...it was a tad boring and technique filled...oh well...I guess it was a good thing since I destroyed my legs while running this morning on that hill set.

Tomorrow will be a spinervals morning I think...we will see what happens when I wake up...trainer time for sure..Just not decided if I want to be yelled at by Coach Troy yet...haha
