Just finished up a Strength session with upper body and core work so I'm 2 for 2 so far  I'm feeling confident I can keep this up all month especially since I'm trying to get really serious about training and losing some weight.  Been slacking off all summer but now that school's about to start back up I know I've really gotta get focused.

Last I checked we're in the lead  Keep up the good work everyone!!

Ok...day two...a success! I am committed (or should be according to my coworkers)! My abs are definitely feeling the attention they have gotten in the last few days. Keep it up everyone!

Happychick - 2010-08-02 8:42 AM Question of the Day:  What do you hope to gain by doing this challenge...aside from the obvious coveted washboard abs?!

I notice that when my core is stronger I seem to be able to ride the bike longer with less back issues.  So that is my hope! Smile

I got my second core session in today after my 3 mile run.
My other goal is to lose 1 pound every day.

Lat's go team!

Ooops, sorry I didn't ask you when I asked Sue...for some reason I thought I had seen an x by your name. Maybe I need my eyes checked!

Happychick - 2010-08-02 11:36 AM Morning All! I am off to baby and me swim class with Sammi and will be doing my core work when she takes her nap this afternoon. I also need to get a ride in but I'm thinking that will have to wait until she is in bed tonight! What's on everyone's agenda today?

Leah ~ I just "happen" to notice we were in 1st as well

Sue ~ Were you able to access the spreadsheet yet?

Yes, thank you, I did. This is all so new to me and I am loving it! Looking to get a ride in tonight after work and then my core work. I just have to get through this week at work and then I'm on vaca for 2 weeks! Yes!

Sue

Ooooh vaca!! Are you going anywhere or just enjoying the fact that you don't have to work?

I'm in the "boy, my abs are sore" club too.  Day 2 is done, but I think I am going to have to find another abs workout routine.  I don't think I can do 8 Minute Abs workout three days in a row, or at least my abs can't do it three days in a row.  I need ideas for other workouts.  Besides, isn't this supposed to be a core workout.  We can mix it up with anything having to do with our core, right?

Ideas, please.

Enjoying the fact that I don't have to work! And of course...more training for my 1st sprint coming up in less than 6 weeks.

Good morning,

I did 10 min core after a 30 minute pre-breakfast run.
I'm on vacation and I'm totally focussed on weight-loss.
21 pounds in 21 days and yesterday I got a few days ahead!

I had to completely change my core exercises as I can't crunch today so I focussed more on the back and sides.

Oatmeal breakfast, Chicken salad lunch, beef vegetable soup dinner,  exercise before each meal.  Swim bike Run.

When I get back to work I want them to accuse me of liposuction!  21 days - 21 pounds.  This is day three and down 6 lbs.

I have a vision.   Good luck everyone!

For what it's worth:

For core I never do all abs.  I do one set of one abs exercise - crunches, leg lifts, or twists, etc.  Then I do one set of one other core area like back or sides - back bridges, back extensions, planks, etc.  Then I alternate to a different ab exercise, then a different non-ab set.  And so forth until I have completed my time.

Ditto! Like Dee, I never do JUST abs. I alternate FB, pilates, mat stuff and always alternate my exercises. If I focus more on back today then tomorrow I will pick another area of focus such as obliques. Also FWIW, since one of my main reasons for doing core work in the first place is because of my back, I don't make myself do a specific number of sets or reps. I will do it until I start to feel it in my back so some days I may be able to do several sets whereas another day I may only be able to do one set of 10.

I must wait until Sammi goes down for her nap to do my abs (otherwise she will climb all over me as I become part of an obstacle course when I lay on the floor). I had planned on taking her for a run this afternoon when she gets up but it looks like it might rain so I may have to do that before she gets up as well ~ DH is (unexpectedly) off this week so i'm able to take advantage

Hello? Where is everyone? I don't want to carry on a conversation with myself

Anyway, I gotta say that had it not been for this challenge I would NOT have done my abs and most likely my last set of PT either! I had completely forgot about it and was getting ready to lay down and chill out when I remembered I hadn't done either one yet. I was about to say screw it when I thought about the challenge. Needless to say, I got my butt up and did both! Amazing what a little team motivation will do for ya!

You are right Michelle.  I would not be doing my core workout if it wasn't for this challenge.  Feeling it a bit in the abs.  Yeah!

Went for a short bike ride yesterday on my steelie.  My new bike has a flat.  I hope to get it fixed today, but it is  a heavy workday today.  Right now I am trying to wake up and decide whether to jog this morning or tonight. Smile

Hi everyone.  Last night I put an X in the box because I intended to do a core workout, but while I was looking at core workout videos on YouTube, I fell asleep.  When my husband woke me up to go to bed, it was all over.  But I did Crossfit today and that always works your core so I am counting that.

Now, here's the issue.  I went to the spreadsheet this morning to change the X from yesterday to today and it won't let me.  Is anyone else having any problems?  I've got the right number of X's (3), but they are in the wrong boxes.  I don't know if it is my work computer and maybe at home it will be OK or what.

We are still in first place, but No More Love Handles is gaining on us.

We are all doing really well, except Shermbelle who has yet to post any workouts.  Shermbelle, dude, work that core and help us march on to victory.   It's only ten minutes - you can do it!!!

Sammi and I had baby and me swim class again today which is always fun although today was the last one for a while The pool will be closed for a few weeks for maintenance so I guess its a good thing I don't have the ok from my ortho doc to swim yet, huh?!

I'm getting ready to go for a ride and do my abs then we are headed out to the tractor show. I'm hoping there are a lot of kid activities like the last one since Sammi had a blast! Otherwise, if its just a bunch of tractors that will be quite boring! Tongue out

Michelle - I have 5 year old grandson who would be in heaven if he got to walk around and look at tractors.  Even better if there was a bulldozer or two.  How about a fire truck?  Steam rollers?  Do they have any steam rollers?  You get the idea.  It was the funniest thing to watch him when he was about a year old sitting in his little chair poring over a book of pictures of construction equipment.  It just comes hard wired in some kids.  Nothing you can do about it.
