Since we are now full, where is everyone from?  I am from Charlotte, NC.  Getting a bit of what we consider a cold spell lately and it is really putting a hamper on my training.

I just want to mention that owl_girl has an underscore between owl and girl.  Just want to make sure you get the correct owl in your friends list.

I miss the snow.  I used to live in a very snowy area in Oregon.  Have fun on those snowshoes!

Please, if any of you in the snowy parts of America have ideas for training in snow I'm eager to know. We have had snow (but mainly ice)on pavements now for over a month. I live in the uk - I'm  not used to it at all. I would go to the gym but driving  (and parking) are also horrendous.

I long for the grey rainy days of my youth.  Smile

Awesome, Ada!!!  Great to have a Mommy on board before we even go live!   Tell us a little more about your workouts, goals, hurdles and ambitions for 2011.

BTW, Ron.....I am available to begin mentoring immediately.

My workouts have been sporadic with the new addition of Baby E, trying to get on a schedule with moving, illnesses then holidays has been ridiculous.  So, I get'em in when I can, tho' my ultra-fave is stoopid early in the morning to get the day started right!

My goal is to have fun with some races this season, see how I'm feeling.  Hurdle? I'm not sure I care about going faster, I've a habit of cruising especially since I saw so much improvement with my paces and fitness up to the HIM.  I have to be aware of my workout in order to push the limit, and I also tend to back off when I go anaerobic (I think)....a "go-faster" fear?

Lovely to meet you all---sorry 'bout the late reply, you know how it is though!

p.s. I hate weight scales, I don't own one.  Too too much focus on weight instead of BMI & overall fitness.   I go entirely by "feel" and whether my full range of pre-pregnancy clothing fits.  If I don't fit it right now, I might in a month!

Hey Tracy, are you, or will someone make a nifty-keen "poster-board" for our blogs so that we may click-click-click and show off our Magnificent Mama Magic?  (I'm not so good at programmer language geek stuff otherwise I'd attempt it).

I cannot do that stuff.  I know someone who can make it for us, though!  I'll ask her!

I'm just west of Denver, CO.  Lotsa snow in the mountains, but none at all down here lately...still waiting, it's been mild and pretty.  I <3 <3 <3 chilly snowy loooong runs, then a post run snow bath for the legs....SO FUN.

Hi Rachel,
I live in the north east of england, Stockton-on-Tees. Its about 270 miles north of london and 30 miles south of Newcastle. The good news is the snow they promised  last night came down as rain/sleet so everything is a little clearer (but v wet), however, as I am moving house in 3 weeks I am very busy trying to pack the house up. And Santa gave me a cold for christmas. Undecided. Its the being so happy keeps me going you know! Smile

Now that I'm officially in the mentor group I'll post my info .  Thanks for welcoming me!

Name:  Karen- I'm from Rochester, NY

Story:  I have been doing triathlons for awhile, but I've never done more than a sprint.  I did my first half-marathon last year, and I'm planning to move up to olympic length tris this year (I just signed up!!).  I have a busy job as a pediatric hospitalist and researcher, and I have 17 and 14 year old boys, so it can be a challenge fitting in training.  I'm excited to be working on goals with a bunch of women who are facing similar issues, and hopefully I might be able to give and get a little advice along the way .

Family:  Wonderful husband (our 20th anniversary is tomorrow!), the aforementioned boys (both fencers, and great kids), and two dogs.  My husband did his first triathlon last year, and is planning to do it again this summer.

Current training:  I'm trying to focus on my base, and consistency.  My biggest problem is maintaining training when life gets busy and complicated.  I can fake my way through a sprint with suboptimal training, but I don't think I can do that for longer distances.  I need to get back in the pool, too.  Unfortunately the master's programs conflict with times when I want to be having dinner with the family.  I think my husband and I are going to start going at least once a week to a pool together that has later hours, so we can swim after dinner while the kids are working on homework (it is really nice now that they can stay home alone).

2010 Races:  I did two sprints- decent times (about top 1/3 of age group), but I could do better.  I did my first half-mary in 2:09 or so, and my first 10K in 57:32.

2011 Races:  OLYMPIC!  I signed up for the Cayuga Lake Intermediate in August!  I'm also signed up for the mini-mussel sprint in July (I wasn't going to go for the 70.3 quite yet ).  I'm planning to do a half marathon in April, and an Olympic tri in September.  And maybe a few 10K or shorter races in between.

Weight loss:  I race best at 125.  I weigh 130 (maybe a few more after this week).  I want to get to 125 again.  I need to eat less.

Hi guys,

I am from Bristol, England, which is in the South West.  Finally the snow here has gone, so its almost time to pluck up the courage to look like an idiot and get out running on the roads, as up til now its all been treadmill work.

Glad to hear there are other fencing parents out there!  I have family in Taunton, so not too far from you (as well as almost everywhere else in England- my 2 aunts and their families are good English Roman Catholics and had to be fruitful (I have 13 cousins, who have all begat more cousins ).

I got a run in but I was slowed down by a freak cuticle nipper incident yesterday- I dropped it on my foot and there's a small puncture over the big toe tendon that hurts much more than it should.

Welcome AQuinn!  Looks like you are in my neck of the woods!

Hey all! I'm a new member too.  Thanks for letting me join Laughing

Name:  Melissa - I'm in Madison, WI

Story:  I've never officially competed in a triathlon!  I've done 3 sprint triathlons with friends at the gym but that is all.  I am a regular spinner, runner and overall fitness enthusiast with ADD so triathlons are a perfect fit for me!

Family:  Married to my husband for almost 8 years.  We have a 14 month old daughter and a 4 year old son.

Current training:  I spin twice a week, run once a week, go to bootcamp 3 times a week and combat class once a week.  Starting January 10th, I enrolled in a beginners triathlon training program at the gym that will meet once per week for about 2 hours.  My workout schedule will change to reduce the bootcamp and up the running and add swimming.

2010 Races:  None!

2011 Races:  My first official sprint is Feburary 26th.  It is an indoor backwards sprint!  (Run, Bike then Swim).  I then have a couple more sprints I want to do through spring and summer and then work up to an Olympic by August!

Weight loss:  Fitness has never been an issue for me, only food!  I'd like to lose about 20 pounds.

So excited to be training with you all! Cool
