What questions do you guys have?

What knowledge can I share with you?

I have been resigned to no cardio for the past 2 months, but I'm cleared now for light cardio. I'm hoping to run/walk 3 times next week. Who's with me?

I'll join in and run/walk 3 times a week!!!!!!!!!!

SWEET!

Do you want to start the week on Sunday or Monday?

Lets shoot for a Sunday start

Out2BeALoser - 2011-01-07 11:43 AM NAME: Out2BeALoser/EdStory: I'm a 43 year old IT manager in the Chicago area. For most of my life I have been overweight but in October of 2008, I decided I had enough and comitted to losing weight and getting healthy. I joined Jenny Craig and started a gym membership. My dream was to actually run a 5k, whiich I did in May of 2010. I have lost a total of 125 lbs and am still working on it. I will always be a Clyde as I'm 6'2" and even after losing that weight am still 275. In working out in general for the 5k I really decided I liked biking and running and so just fell into the idea of triathlons. So, during last summer, I ran 3 sprints and loved it. I finished the season with a 10k. I'm slow slow slow runner but I do it.Family status: divorced father sharing custody of three great kids with my ex. Currently in a serious relationship with a wonderful woman. Current Training: as much as possible . Sidelined for this week due to an elective procedure and under orders to take it easy for one week. Then back to it. 2011 races planned: Indy half marathon in May, Tri Shark Sprint in June. At least 2 other sprints and want to find a late season Oly to work up to. I'm posting this from my iPad so if it is all jumbled, I'll work on it later from my laptop. I do tend to be quiet but am looking forward to being part of a supportive group of like minded folks!

Welcome Ed....the tri shark sprint is right next door to me if you need someone to jockstrap for you....I don't think I will be doing that race

Starting next week, I'll join you guys in committing to 3 runs a week at least. I just can't begin until next Thursday. I think part of the deal is that we add each other as friends and provide support via the training logs as well, is that right?

A little bit of Ann trivia for you all. I live in PA, and we had just a bit of snow this morning. My kids decided to make the best of it this evening.

Sorry I couldn't get back to you guys sooner.  Here is some of my info:

Name:  Fred Uytioco      Kennewick, WA

Family:  Married with 2 kids (daughter is 5 and son is almost 3)

Background:  Haven't done anything like this before.  My brother started doing triathlons a few years ago and did the Ironman Arizona in Nov. 08.  I worked out on and off for the last few years (mainly lifting weights with minimal cardio) and January 2010 I finally got motivated and started going to the gym 4 times a week.  In May 2010 I got into a car accident.  Tweaked my shoulder and upper back quite a bit.  The working out just stopped.  Been going to a chiro and physical therapist since.  Just got released a few days ago and I'm feeling pretty good.  I started looking at duathlons, running and biking, to not put too much work on my shoulder and back.  I'm excited about it and my brother's accomplishments is a definite motivating factor (and he's really excited for me as well), even if he is over 1000 miles away in California.  What is also great is that the wife and kids are behind me in my goals.

Current Training:  Started the plan for unfit beginners guide to sprint duathlons from the Triathlon Training Basics book.  Decided to do the swimming portion of it as well at a very slow pace.  Just started this week and I am logging what I've done.

2011 Races:  Hoping to do a couple of sprint duathlons this year and maybe a 5k thrown in the mix.
Goals:  Not really trying to lose any weight (5'8", 145lbs.) but trying to get healthy again and hopefully continue on to doin longer duathlons and triathlons.

That's a simple one: Ask lots of questions and interact with each other.

Ok I have a half marathon (my first ever) in May. I don't like that all the BT plans are based on time instead of distance since I'm very slow. I found a Higdon plan and was wondering how I'd import it into my BT training log (plan). Anyone do this before?

That's a very good question. I will have to do some research, but I thought I read at one time that to import a file it had to be in .csv format. I'll look around and see what I can find. If we can't find an answer we can post the question in the Training Log & Site Support Forum. They are pretty good about getting back quickly.

Day's going well.  Weather is pretty iffy and cold over here so went to the gym and got on a stationary bike.  Did 45 min. and 8.7 miles.  Not the fastest but just trying to get going.  Feeling pretty good.
Anybody have any suggestions on a good budget beginner bike?

A lot of people in Tri Talk have used Bikes Direct, and they've gotten good reviews. I got my first bike from them, my son uses it now.
