Cal - 2005-08-16 12:08 PM Easy on the cops boys and girls. I've never pulled over a biker, nor do I partake in eating donuts. Seems a lot of generalizing going on here. Plenty of fat, donut eating, sloppy, lawyers, doctors, politicians (your job here), out there.

I like a man in uniform, even cops. Especially if he has a tight ... nevermind.

Cal - 2005-08-16 2:38 PM I hear ya and can take it with the best of them. I would think that after all these years someone could come up with something outside of donut jokes though. Hell, working in Florida, I'm surprised they can even find anyone riding a bike. I figured everyone was either 80 years old or cruising in their 79 camaro sporting a rebel flag and a mullet.

"Donut" is a funny word. Like "mullet". Could be worse. They could be cruller jokes.

I went over to a friend's house the other day. He and his sons are pretty much good ol' boys, and his oldest son wanted to show me the Chevy truck he'd just bought. It's a beaten up early 80s 4x4, with a lift kit, big mudder tires, and of course the hunting club sticker in the rear window. I asked him if he'd bought a rebel flag for the back window yet, and he tells me to look inside at the headliner. Yep, it had a nicely stitched rebel flag headliner.

Oh...and I can't wear a mullet any more. It would be a skullet nowadays, and I draw the line somewhere short of that!

I'm thankful every time I hop on the bike that there are miles and miles and miles and miles of fantastic paved trails in and around Minneapolis. Just the short trip to access the trails can get pretty hairy - especially any time around rush hour. Most drivers are just not fully attentive to their non-automotive surroundings. The worst are when you're in the cross walk at an intersection with a right turn lane. Even if there's a red light people are usually blowing well through the cross walk to get a good look at the cross traffic. Some scary moments there! Know the laws, be safe and, above all else, be smart!

it's really ridiculous how "share the road" signs mean nothing to people!

in a road in ann arbor that is popular with roadies (huron river drive), there was an accident maybe 6 months ago where a car hit a biker (who was ok, thank goodness).  anyway, a bunch of cars wanted to stay behind as witnesses and wait for the police to show up and give their statements.

BUT - they all wanted to say it was the bikers fault for because he was using the road!

So did the biker get in trouble or did the driver?

WAIT A MINUTE! Someone let this go? This is getting rediculous. Cruller? Ok- that's it. I'm finding a different thread before there are any more donut references... come to think of it... dunkin donuts is right down the road.....
