Well,

knowing it's the same week end as World championship in LV, I guess pros will choose the other race ??

I expect it to be a long day for me and will be thrilled with a sub-seven hour finish! Sounds crazy but it is what it is!

Nothing is crazy !!

I was targeting a sub 6 when I registered but when I rode the course, I changed my expectations: To finish !

It will already be a huge milestone as this is my first season and first HIM

Exactly. I also set out with a sub6 goal... but in training, realized that is probably not realistic, because my run is very weak. Now, I just want to finish, and feel better than I did at Around the Bay in March! Smile = win!

Well the run is the unknown variable for me. That could push me closer to 8...!!

If I learned anything this weekend, I would strongly suggest putting some sunscreen on in T2 if you can. There is little/no shade for the first... well, 5.5k at least. Then coming back, nothing from about 17-21k. Not 100% sure about the middle.

This race was a nice Kona prep for a few (namely Crowie), but now it'll be interesting to see who shows up.  Not all of them make Las Vegas.

I've been guessing the run to also be hilly, so ran as many as I could find.  Remember to stay within yourself, especially early on.

The Bib # are up! As for the Pro's? Its about as slim as you can get. Mainly local Canadians and some NY'ers. Biggest name is Michael Lovato I guess. I will miss Crowie, Matthews, Rinny, and the other studs who usually toe the starting line. Oh well now its up to us to make it a special event.

Registration isn't closed is it? Couldn't a few more pro's show up?

I thought I saw Matt Lieto's name on the confirmation list too.

Registration is not closed you are correct, but I doubt we will see any other pro's signing up. After all it is the World Championships AND IMWI. I didnt see Matt Lieto's name on the Bib list but I am not perfect so you may be correct.

It would be neat to see Sean Betchel to take the title!

The run actually isn't overly bad (well, the section that I did...) The last 3k is a relatively gradual downhill (guess what that means for the first 3k...) There is definitely a big hill at about 5.5k in on an out and back. I didn't run up it, so I don't know how big it is, or what goes on after it, though.
