Day 6 BJ!  What day are you taking off?

30 minute walk and Plyo Cardio Circuit.  Tomorrow is OFF!!!  I have a feeling I'll need to sleep in tomorrow. The actual racing starts today so we are going to be working our a$$es off from noon-8pm tonight.  I met some Texans yesterday...it was funny, they asked where I was from (born in Canada, from 6th grade on lived in North Dakota, in Nevada for the past 15 years) and they said 'oh, that explains the accent'.  I just laughed and said 'you're from Texas and I'M the one with the accent?!' They got a good laugh.

Have a great day!

Hello...I've been in a crazy cycle of workouts, back to school stuff, and working out on the salt flats.  I have done all my workouts, however!  Today was Cardio Recovery...yay!

Hope your workouts have been going well!!!

Just a check in...this weekend was all about catching up on sleep, unfortunately workouts suffered!  All awake time was in the classroom.  Back on the plan tomorrow morning bright and early!!!

I just "started the Insanity" this morning.  I took my first Fit Test.  Dang--intense stuff!  I did OK, even compared to the pretty, young, buff people on the video.  But I have a LOT of work to do.

I'll post here about how I do.

Thanks, BJD!

I meant to do my workout last night in my hotel room, but was so tired I crashed at about 8pm.

Did Day 3/week 1, Plyo Cardio Circuit, this morning.

Did Plyo Cardio Circuit Friday and Sunday mornings.  Sunday morning was different--puased the DVD a couple of time, to recover and to take care of my son.

Making a little progress, I think.

Afternoon!

Last night:  Plyometric Cardio Circuit, day 6.

You're right--the soreness is going away.  It's still brutal, though!  Shaun T. can be a monster!

I just finished the program as a little break from SBR.  For anyone who is interested in trying Insanity, here are my observations:

  • The workouts are challenging, especially in month 2
  • There is a big difference between doing tri training for distance (moderate, steady efforts) and doing short, hard intervals.  It will shock the system
  • The program will build strength, especially in the upper body
  • It is not a magic calorie burning bullet - I gained weight during the program because I maintained my typical diet; I must burn more calories with my regular tri training
  • You will find yourself performing movements and doing things with your body that you didn't know you could do
  • If you do a workout in a hotel gym (using a cheat sheet instead of the DVD), you will get some strange looks

Overall, I enjoyed the program and I am glad I did it.  I miss my regular training, though, and I am excited to get back into it.  I found it to be a great off-season break to maintain general fitness and enhance total body condition.

Thanks for the info. I just started this week. I'm hoping to shed about 10 pounds and gain some core strength in the process.
