hikergerb - 2005-11-18 2:19 PM OK people - it kind of looks like the name will be the Midwest Blizzards - last chance for any other ideas (I did like the snowflakes).

I like it!

Midwest Blizzards it is!

Now we need a mascot image.  Have to fire up Photoshop tonight.

We are officially the Midwest Blizzards. Here is the team so far and the stated goals of those who have posted them. They can still be changed (I beleive) until I turn them into Renee Nov 30.

Possum 25000
Hikergerb
Alreed
McFuzz 10000
Triman50
Oipolloi
Morey1
Bikingbruise 25000
Nccgrap

I am looking at around 10000 but am toying with bumping it up. I'm still waiting on the pool schedule. Please post your goals in this thread as it is hard to pick them out of the main December Swim Challenge thread.

rabkaman This is the way this challenge works. Set a goal of yardage (or meters) you'd swim over the month. post that goal and then go do it. The winning team in the one that comes the closests to thier goal. Anything over 100% for a specific swimmer is thrown out. See the Dec Swim Challenge rules post for specifics. I'd love to add you to the Blizzards. Get back to me and give me your goal for the month. Important facts to remember when adding up your goal. HOliday parties you might not swim after, when your pool is open or closed, what you can realistically do. This is all about setting and reaching a goal (as well as talking a little smack with the others along the way).

aha! our first visit by The Jen. I was wondering when it would show up.

Ignore her boys and girls. Do not feed the animals, or poke them. Do not bang on the glass.

Come on Possum - I like getting the little animals in the zoo rilled up. Otherwise they just lay there like slugs doing nothing but use up resources. Focus on the race ahead and not let the rabble distract you!

I swim in a community center pool. There is this old man (87) who swims I don't know how many yds everyday on his back using the gutter to guide himself. He is all bent over and unable to stand up straight. I told him one day I was EXTREMELY proud and him and hoped when I was his age I was doing the same. YOu should have seen the smile on his face.

Sorry I didn't get my goals to you sooner.

I will be swimming every Tuesday & Thursday in December, 3500 yards per session x 9, which equals slightly over 30,000 yards for December.  This does not include the yardage I'll get when working with my coach.  I should have no problem reaching 30000.  So here's my goal...

Oipolloi:  30,000

Lets kick some butt TEAM BLIZZARD!

this old man I was referring to... is easily in his upper 60s.. . he is very pale and has very thin white hair...   he hurt his knee skiiing as a middle aged man ... and started swimming some 30 years ago..  he swims 1700 meters every freaking day.... he does it nonstop freestyle the whole way as well... its quite astonishing.. I ve been going for 1.5 years now and this guy is like clockwork.  Im tempted to call him moby dick...  cept no one is hunting him down...  nor has he killed anyone to my knowledge... lol
