I'm staying over - at the Courtyard Raynham. Starting to get excited - especially with the warm weather!

I'm likely going to stay at the Days Inn in Middleboro. Convenient to the course (10 mi?) and pretty reasonable.

I have an open weekend in May (19th/20th) bc I don't have a race scheduled per training plan and I'd like to go down and do 1 lap each of the bike and run course.  Does anyone here know if it's ok to park at Cathedral Camp on the weekends?  I see there is a planned training day held there on the 19th (no time or budget for), would it be imposing if my car "blended" in with the others despite not participating in the training camp?

Cathedral Camp has church services over the weekend. They also hold funerals from time to time. I've parked there and ridden during the week or Saturdays.

When I go down and ride the course I usually part at Ted Willams park which is much closer to 495 and then start the ride in the middle.

If life allows I plan on meeting up for the dinner Friday.

If there is a group ride planned in May I might come along...I know the course very well and fun other roads down there, but I'm slow right now as I'm recovering.

Mighty Mom, run course is just 1 loop unless they changed it. I would suggest riding it or driving it as it is a very confusing course before the race as there are lots of turns and small rural roads....beautiful course. Roads do have a bit of a camber and not much shoulders on much of the course but very little traffic.

I was just reviewing the course maps and noticed it was a single 13 mi loop.  My mind must have been playing tricks on me the first time I looked. I'll probably end up cutting up 105 to make it a 10 mi run.

Thanks for the tips, Kathy. Will definitely drive the route before hand and hopefully I can figure out how to upload the courses into my gps watch as well.

Depending, I'd love to meet up for dinner Fri night.

I'd love to join up for the bike and maybe the run as well - does anyone have a profile map for the bike (showing where the major inclines/hills are?) or any information...ie. hill on mile 3? Thanks

There are no major inclines or declines on this route, it is basically rolling terrain.

here is my strava link to last years ride, downloaded off of a garmin 500

I'm signed up for this race as well.  I did it last year (first HIM), and it was great.  I had done the Cranberry trifest Oly a couple times, and this has much of the same roads - very scenic and rolling hills.

Last year I was just aiming to finish - this year I'm doing it as a threshold race on my way to IMLP.  I live near the area, so I'd be interested in any training rides people may put together, as well as any pre/post race meetups!

Oh my - this is what I'm used to on a 20 mile course:

11.7% Average Grade
Total Elevation Gain:
13,176.00 feet

our course is a 1% grade with 1,000 feet climbs...interesting...

This will be my first half. I am thinking of riding the bike course Sat morning but I would need to start early 6am to make it home for family obligations. Is there anyone familiar with the route interested in meeting up this early? If so I will go and most likley have a another rider as well.

Hey all,

Just joining in now!  I'm in for the 1/2 with a bunch of friends.  I JUST saw the course changed, how is it? I think people said it made it easier, which is good as it is a "training race" for me.  I'm planning to pre-ride this weekend 2 loops if anyone wants to meet up. My guess, start time about 8:00.

the bike course is easy, the only thing is it does have a lot of turns, one is halfway down a hill, and could be missed if there is no one there directing traffic.

I really like the bike course, personally.

Rudedog - do you know what mile marker this turn is? I think this race is too far for me to go on a training ride (2.5 hours away one way) but I would love to get in on the dinner plans. My hotel is about 12.5 miles away. I'm so excited!

Rudy, please, lol

we usually do dinner Friday night, at the Fireside restaurant.

What hotel you staying at???  I am at the Fairfield Inn, which is about the same distance away.

Grace, if i had to remember, i would say somewhere around mile 14 of the first loop, i think it was where you turn off 79 onto clear pond road. They had marshals there directing traffic, so it should not be a surprise race day, other than sucking having to slow down on a down hill where i was probably moving along at about 25-30mph, lol

Rudy - I'm staying at the Raynham Quality Inn - I'd love to join up with you guys for dinner.  Thanks for the mile 14 info. This 'recovery' week has been more like a 'no exercise at all' week b/c of health and other stuff. Argh. I feel pretty ready though - I did a really tough 42.36 bike last weekend and also a triathlon and ran 10 miles that week as well (maybe I do just need a week off LOL) . Getting a bit nervous, but less nervous than I've ever been for a tri. Weird. I'm psyched to s/b/r ALL DAY. Ahhhhh

I'm in for dinner.  When you say Fireside you mean the Fireside Grill in Middleboro? What's the usual time?  I'll be staying at home which is about 1 hr away.

Also, I will be going down tomorrow for a long brick if anyone wants to meet up. Probably get there for 6:30am.

Rudy, I just still haven't decided if I'm going to get a hotel the night before or just drive down race morning.  I'll figure that out soon.  If I get a hotel, count me in for dinner.  If not, definitely looking forward to seeing you on race day!
