In no particular order

  • Had a family
  • Traveled the world. At one point, I was traveling 50% of my time internationally for work (pre kids and pre marrige). I've traveled all over Europe and Asia, having great times in each and every location
  • Went to college, even though I was a terrible HS student and had NO money to pay for it. My bachelors and graduate degrees gave me more than I ever imagined, and taught me that it wasn't school I disliked. It was being a teenager

Did a lotta' neat things in my hang glider.  Like flying over 100mi (yes, in one afternoon).  Climbed at 2500fpm through 17,999 ft.  Launched it off a cliff and flew over Yosemite.

Although right now- I'm still bragging to anyone willing to listen, about my BQ last month.  Dug pretty deep for that one.

Twice spent 3 months in the boonies with a partner repairing trail, sleeping in a tent and carrying an 80 lbs pack with all the the tools I needed.  We would get a food resupply and work orders once a week.  I figured I hiked 700 miles each of those summers.

Saved a teen's life by putting myself between him and the five teens with baseball bats who were hitting him.

Wow - let's see....

When I was in grade school I used to go caving with my friend and her Dad. We would crawl through the mud, scare off the bats and then eat a whole snickers bar when we were finsihed. That was really cool and I'm glad I did it but I don't want to do it now! Well, I'd eat the snickers bar.......

I've taught close to 1,000 preschoolers and countless other little ones through programs like MusikGarten and Toddler Gym at my Y.

But, by far the coolest thing I/we (can't forget hubby) have ever done is adopt my two beautiful children. Magical, life changing events that have shaped the person I am today. Knowing I could do that helped me see that I can do anything I set my mind too - including race a few triathlons .

Got a masters degree, went skydiving, been scuba diving, studied in Costa Rica for a semester, was on a Costa Rican game show (that wasn't cool so much as ridiculous!)

A week of helicopter snowboarding at Mike Wiegele's ranks high on my must-do-again list.  Just need to make a mental note to avoid ridiculously dangerous crashes on day 2.

Packing up my bags for 3 months flying over to Europe with my best friend and living life by the seat of our pants every minute, partying every night, and ending our trip in Pamplona to run with the bulls.

In a close second booking a trip to Ireland 48 hours before our departure with my close college friends and spending spring break traveling around Ireland

Thailand

Every single baseball game I went to as a kid with my dad...nothing ever beats father son baseball games/trips.

On a holiday romance whim moved to Greece to worship a barman I met there - lived there for five years and can now speak fluent Greek...and am still with him today 21 years on.

Our beautiful daughter had late in life, her 7 years on the planet have made life sweeter.

Rode an elephant in Bali last year and swam with seals in Melbourne last year.

I'm not remotely sporty yet at the age of 45 did my first marathon....and here I am doing this!

Rocked twin daughters to sleep, one in each arm, singing softly to them, as I walked a circle around our dining room table.

I'm not sure I'll ever do anything in my life that will equal the experience of their first year.....amazing to be a part of it.

I've witnessed not one... But 2 world series clinching games in my hometown. Sky diving. I've raced motorcycles professionally. I dated a girl that would later become miss USA and runner up miss universe. And the coolest to this day was at age 10 my dad and I spent 2 weeks in the boundry waters with nothing more than we could lug on our (his) back and a canoe. I'll have kids one day which will make this all seem so much less cool...

Married 31 years to high school sweetheart, raised two daughters that are contributing members to society and who love adventure.

Backpacked the width of Maryland and on the Appalachian trail.  Learn to fly. Hiked Half Dome, Hiked Grand Cayon to the floor and back, scuba dive, kayak black canyon.  Does surfing count? or when you live in So. Cal. is it a given? Learning NOT to hate running.

I guess the coolest is introducing newbies to adventures - teaching adults to swim and exposing adult women to road riding.

Couple hundred carrier arrested landings...most every east coast ship btwn 1994 and 2001...I may have been the first woman to have 100 traps on the USS Enterprise. Scuba, parachuting, crazy living abroad stories, etc. I love my life, now and in the past.

I won a kayak fishing tournament and just recently got engaged to the most beautiful girl. I also played in some cool bands, won some great academic awards as a college student, grew my own vegetable garden, and just recently got to watch Drew Brees break the record in the superdome. Who dat...

After reading everyone elses, I've got a lot to accomplish here lol. Next step is to finish up my PhD and get a house.

I don't know, I think I'm probably the only one to consider my 'stuff' cool, but...

  • Getting and keeping my job as a zookeeper, eventually moving up to become the lead reptile/amphibian keeper at the Sacramento Zoo. Also, starting a conservation/population management plan for California Tiger Salamanders. And of course, the other cool bits of being a keeper: close-up work with big cats, primates, BABY ANIMALS!!!!
  • Training/Teaching a crocodile to 'station' on command, as well as holding his mouth open, and crawling into his crate.
  • Hanging out with rock stars at Foundations Forum (a heavy metal convention) for multiple years.
  • Putting myself through college (still...), and to know that I will be the first  in my family to graduate.

Pilot's license, building some of my own furniture, 2 kids who are doing better than I ever have, the ability when I want or need to, to make a meal entirely of things I grew myself, meat and veggies. A wife half my age, that's kinda cool, starting my own business-frightening and intimidating right now-will be cool if it works out.

Fun: four hour long cave dives in Mexico on a rebreather, a long way from daylight or assistance if things go bad.

Meaningful: stumbled across a single car accident on an icy road, found an unconscious, frozen driver, took her to the hospital and was told I likely saved her life. Always wondered what happened to her.

Some folks on here have done some pretty amazing things.

Congratulations for successfully raising children. That looks amazingly difficult these days.

This is some AMAZING reading!!

I'll also add to mine having three awesome kids and a fantastic husband (probably the best thing I've done in my life is divorcing my ex - who is now on his second ex).
