Subject: RE: Garmin-Sharp-Barracuda TDF Challenge ThreadSo I rode to work and at quiting time it's not looking good. 24mph head wind and pouring rain. My wife called to see if I wanted a ride and said some crap about sugar and spice and everything nice and melting. With my Manhood in question, my choice was clear. I donned my yellow jersey Lance gave me after his 7th win and took to the streets. It was brutal. I have had disc brakes for the last 15 years. I forgot all about rain soaked rim brakes. That was an eye opener. My hands grew numb and I knew hypothermia was setting in... but I had to do it for the team... OK, it was really windy with light rain. I still got wet. I nearly asked my wife to come get me, but the streets were not even wet at that point. I do have a yellow jersey... it was given to me by a friend that meant well... I feel really self conscious wearing it, but it is really visible. Truth is it has been so gosh darn hot lately I welcomed a ride in the rain.... BUT I ALSO WAS NOT GOING TO LET MY TEAM DOWN! Stage two in the books. 23 mile commute. GO TEAM GARMIN!!! And don't worry. There was only minor melting of my toes. I will be good as new as soon as I get some ice cream. |
