RedSoxChick - 2013-03-01 5:25 PM Oh Jackie, As a Bostonian that was a knife in my heart. There is NO greater status for a runner than Boston Qualified. You must come run through my state. It's may be expensive but crossing our finish line is PRICELESS.

Thanks for the feedback.  I meant no harm.  This is all just so new and overwhelming.  I have heard that it costs about 3k to do the Boston experience.

If money were no object, there would be no decision.  One of the reasons that I was able to train well and qualify was that I have been out of work for the last 7 months.  Training has kept me from going crazy.  I have several income producing things in the works, but they are not all up to speed yet.

I should have added a Wink I COMPLETELY understand the financial challenges. As a bonofied back-of-the-packer I feel everyone that has BQ on their resume has a responsibility to put it to good use LOL

Start saving those pennies, reserve a hotel soon, google cheap options and I'll hope see you in 2014 .... that is if I survive my 1st Boston in 44 days!!

In the mean time, read a little of this too - especially the section about women - pretty darn inspiring for all of us!

Rene,

How's the PF?

Unfortunately it is still there.  It gets sore when I run long or fast.  Thanks for asking.  Smile

May have been discussed before, but have you tried KT Tape? I feel relief immediately having taping up. Hope it feels good on race day!

I have taped it, but not with KT tape.

Thanks ODogg!!

I am still suffering from Plantar Fasciitis myself but it's under control fro the most part.  I plan on using the athletic taping I have used for most of my training to keep it under control during and after the race.  I'll also take some Aleve (2 tablets) following the race to make sure I don't have a flare up that becomes debilitating.

My taper is going about as well as can be expected.  Race tapers are so mind numbing for me.  I feel like I should be doing something far more active than I am doing right now.  Lucky for me that I have had a couple of weekends in a row that have been very busy.  I have had little choice but to back down my overall training volume.

Bib number 8024  Wave 1, corral 9

Who is planning to attempt another PR?  And who is planning to simply enjoy the moment running the pinnacle of marathoning?

ODogg,
Thanks again for the tip on the KT Tape!!  I did some research on the web and went out and bought some KT Tape Pro.  I followed the directions on their web site/YouTube when applying the tape and ran 12 miles last Sunday and it felt good.  I still have my foot inserts in also, so I am hoping a  combination of both of those will get me through the race on Monday!! Smile

Dirk,
Good luck with the PF on race day.  Not the ideal situation but we are still fortunate to toe the line at this historic race.  I plan to go for broke.  My current PR is 3:12:53.

Just got word today that my MRI shows a femoral neck stress fracture so Boston will be going on without me (again) this year.

I wish everyone luck with the race. I can't wait to read your race reports.
