OK, there might be a pattern with me saying the wrong thing. I shared the OP story with a girl I used to work with and she reminded me of another of my foot-in-mouth episodes.

We were working down at KSC in FL and staying at a hotel in Cocoa Beach. We were discussing what time we needed to meet for breakfast and so what time to get up. Dawn had very short school-boy type hair and as far as I could tell, did not wear make-up. So I said, “Dawn, it obviously does not take you long to get ready in the morning.”

Ooops. And so I learned, don’t ever tell a woman that!

There's saying the wrong thing and then there's silence at the wrong moment:

Two days ago my SO showed me a picture of her and the kids at the pool a friend had taken, she was not happy with the way she looked:

SO: "This picture is awful, I'm not that big am I?"

Me: ".......(Silent Pause).........."

SO: "well that says it all!!"

yup I got my timing all wrong there and was caught off guard completely.

The thing is, she isn't big, and I can truthfully tell her she looks great, I just missed the ball on this occasion.

My foot is now in a tremendous amount of pain, it is swollen, and I can barely walk on it at all, it hurts so much. I am still putting the gel on, taking anti inflammatories, and icing. Help!
