Hey! Count me in too! I've never done one of these challenges yet but could really use the grounding in my stretching. I wound up with tendonitis in my achilles this summer largely due to no flexibility in my ankles. I NEED this!!!

some of you are quite industrious but with my usual workout, workload, and family I can't commit to major stretch times...so I'll say 10 mins a day (via yoga moves or plain ol stretch moves).

Are we supposed to be posting our minutes?  If so, I was able to do about 30-35 today, since my wife took the kids out for awhile and my only job was to clean out the garage.

Come on ellasdad, you can do it!

OK I think I'm super-late checking in to this one but due to a peroneal tendon injury my time on my feet is limited for a couple weeks. My running plan has bitten the dust and my other cardio exercise is kinda sporatic. Therefore I pledge...

Pilates every day for the month of October!

I'm brand spankin' new to it and I'm still learning, so I only promise that I will do some practice every day, even though it could be 10 minutes or could be 45. Core strength and flexibility...here I come! ...er, I hope.

Even though I skipped stretching on Sat, I still avg'd 30 min a day (210 minutes total) of stretching in last week.

This is harder than I thought. I got in 35 min of stretching for week (goal is 60).
I did do my one Yoga session though.

Welcome to all the newcomers! Nice job to everyone keeping up with their goals. I have been moving this week so I haven't been able to check everyday. I haven't started my yoga yet, but things are settling down, so hopefully I'll get to it this week. Great job everyone!

PS - you can post minutes here or in your log.

Subject: Flexibility: Week 1 check-in

I'm on crutches since signing up for this challenge.  I need the stretching now more than ever!  I'm so sore from these wretched things...  But of course, I'm having a hard time getting in the stretching.

So here's my (late) check-in for week 1 of October:

Actual/(goal)
Stretch: 2 days/(6 days), 47 minutes (120 minutes)

Pilates: 0 days/(2 days)

My plan for week 2 is to make up the missed stretching minutes and pilates, and meet my goal for the week.

It's hard to get into the routine, but keep on plugging at it!

Miserable week for training in general...the knee is still and issue and some obstacles in the personal life made this past week awful. I got in about 60 mins of stretching this week, far below where I wanted to be...but a new week has begun!!!

I didn't do so hot last week.  I think I only stretched twice and my goal is every day for 10 min.  But I'm off to a good start this week.

Ok, after a bit of a rough start to the week due to an illness, I'm back in the game. My progress so far...

Since October 3 (the day I began pilates, but before I began this challenge), I have done pilates for 10-45 minutes every day except Monday and Tuesday this week. Sooo...I'm 7 days for 9 so far. Hopefully those will be my only two slipped days this month.

Great job everyone!

Didn't report in last week, but just finished my first whole week.   Goal 150 minutes.  Actual 145 minutes.  I'm still working on the ITBS, and I think I'm going to try at least one week without stretching, since it doesn't seem to be helping any.

Have a good week everyone.

So far so good -- haven't missed any more days of pilates!!  I've been at it for exactly 2 weeks, so I'm beginning to see a bit of progress

Looking at my logs, I realized that I've already spent more hours doing pilates this month than I spent running in the entire month of September, which was the first month in my run-focused plan!  Haha, I guess that goes to show that it's more difficult to build up running endurance than it does to fit in a few minutes of pilates each day...

Even so, my inability to run these days led me to pilates, so I'm enjoying what progress I can make Cool

How's everyone else doing this week?

Been stretching (not as much as would like or need though) with particular attention to my achilles. (had tendonistis this summer).

I find the more stretched I am, the better for recovery and after a long day, stretching is a terrific thing to do right after I get my jammies on!

Okay, I need this. I've been so stiff from upping training intensity and minutes... rather sporadically.

I'll start with 10 minutes per day, at least 5 days per week.

Nice job, Caitlin! Hope I can make as much progress. Yeah, a little easier to stretch than run, yet I think this challenge thing and having someone to answer to (you all) will make a big difference in my self-discipline!

Subject: % Goals Met

Hey all you flexible triathletes!

It looks like most of us have been pretty busy, and haven't had alot of time to check-in and update.  I'm posting my final % of goals met.  Maybe the rest of y'all can do the same as we finish up.  Although I didn't meet my goals, I know I stretched a whole heck of alot more than I would have without the challenge.  So in my mind the challenge has been a success for me!

I'm going to start a new Flexibility challenge for November that is a little more structured.   So if you are interested in continuing, you can check that out later today when I post it.  I look forward to seeing how all of you have been doing.

Flexibility Challenge - MandiGayle

October 4 – October 31 (27 days)
Activity          Actual        Days   Goal             Goal met
Pilates:         1h 46m          5        8 days           62.5%
Stretching:    5h 47m         15      9h/27 days    64% time, 55.5% days = 59.75%
Total Goal Met: 61%

P.S. Just for a little perspective (and to help me feel not so guilty), I was/am in physical therapy during the whole challenge.  Below is the total PT time for the month of October during which I got a fair amount of stretching but didn't count it in my totals above.

Physical Therapy: 11h 38m
