Heh...funny.  I don't even ride my rollers a lot but the amount I rode them definitely helped me learn to keep a straight line!  I should ride them more once I'm riding again...

Happy New Year, group!

Okay, 2006 is BEHIND us.  If we didn't do everything we wanted to do, we need to just forget about any "failures" and look AHEAD.  New year, clean slate.  No more delaying!  The holidays can get crazy...but now we get several months without "interruption" to train for the tri season!  Here's my 2007 goals:

1. Lose 25+ lbs (get below 140).
2. Get my knee healthy.
3. If 1&2 happen maybe I can work on setting some PR's.

That sounds good to me! Hi group! Happy New Year to you all. My goals for this year are:

1. Jog 6 miles comfortably.
2. Loose 10 lbs. I think that may be more after these past weeks.
3. Follow my training plan.

I hope that you all are enjoying your first day of the year. Good luck with all of your goals!

I agree. I am looking forward to a very productive 2007. Some of my goals for 2007 are:

1. Lose 50 lbs. Currently 250lbs
2. Complete 90% of my scheduled workouts.
3. Compete in 4-5 sprint races this year. One a month starting in May.

It (flying) is also a great thing to imagine when doing speed workouts.  Well, at least it makes me feel speedier.

Since you are all now in a relationship with Jen, there are a few things you should all probably know about her:

  1. She brew's excellent beer, and should probably provide you all with a sample
  2. Her nickname is "Muffin", and she loves it
  3. Don't ever let her try to remodel your bathroom
  4. She despises sheets with less than a 1000TC
  5. Her dogs are secretly conspiring against her for making them play dress up

Provided as a PSA. Oh, and she is really super-nice too

It used to be...these days Coach has me on a two beer per week "suggested" limit...I haven't made beer in ages!  But I should...

Stake knows me WAY too well...he should...I've slept in his bed!

He wasn't in it at the time of course...but he has GREAT sheets....

I'm liking the "Flyers" theme...we should work with this...

Muffin's Flyers? Kidding...kidding...

Sorry I haven't been around!  I swear this is SO unusual.  I usually LIVE on BT.  These last few weeks have been nasty at work...

I have a question Jen. I am trying to complete 5 sprint races during 2007. It works out to one a month starting in May. Since I like to have a plan in front of me, how should I fill the time between races. Obviously I wouldn't start training over from day one but do I go back about a month and import that info or do I do something different. What have my teammates done?

You could do a couple of things.  You could either go back a month and import the info...OR you could chose one or two of them to be "A" races (your most important races) and back the plans up to that point using the inbetween sprints as "tune up" races.  In other words, you don't train specifically for that race, you just run it while you are training.  So if you want the 3rd and 5th to be the A Races, you would import a sprint plan that ended at the 3rd sprint and one that ended at the 5th sprint.  Then the 1st, 2nd, 4th sprints would just fall inside the plan somewhere.  You really can't "peak" for that many races in a season if you want to do your absolute best at them...make sense?

naners - 2007-01-09 9:25 PM How many races for one season is average?

I don't know if there is an average.  I think I've seen a lot of people do about one a month.  But then I know people that do a bunch of 5k's and 10k's as "training" races so they might "race every weekend but really there is only one important race.

I personally think one every 3-4 weeks is really the most you can do or will want to do...especially when you start getting up into the HIM distances.  You need some time off after long races.  Last year I had scheduled:

Oly in Apr
Oly in May
HIM in June (got cnx'ed on me)
Oly in July
10k swim and HIM in Aug
Half marathon in Sept (cnx'ed due to knee)
Marathon in Sept (cnx'ed due to knee)

Which may not seem like a lot, but I felt like I was always gearing up for a race!  It got to the point where I wanted to cancel some just so I could make TRAINING progress rather than trying to prep for a race!
