FYI, I will be gone for a week, (17-24) so I will have to upload all my runs (my millions of miles , heh heh) upon my return, so be prepared to see some presto change-o in the numbers. Everyone Else- It's time to get out and run! I'm going to add at least 10 miles to the totals this week, and that is before my long run next Saturday... Anyone else want to run 10 miles with me this week (10 miles, at different times, in different places....)? Consider it a mini-challenge, 10 miles before midnight Friday. . . You're on! I'm not gonna run 10 miles at a whack, but I'll add 10 miles before midnight Friday. Possum? You in? edit: I'm starting Monday with 5.54 miles. 10 miles, run, walk or crawl. You can do 20 x 1/2 miles runs if you want. Game On! I started out this morning at 8.83 miles. By midnight Friday, I am hoping to break 20. I have a 5k run planned for tonight after the kids go to bed, and usually follow that with a mile just barely faster than a walk. OK, I have about a mile and a half to run today to meet the 10 miles by Friday midnight, and about 3 to run to meet my personal goal of hitting 20 miles so far this month (by midnight). No problem, I got it covered. How's everyone else doing for their personal goals for the month? Edited by tjtryon 2007-01-12 12:28 PM |

Champion 5183 Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Nike+ BT BEGINNER's challenge i'm right on schedule-- I did a stupid thing and ran on weds (it was a shortie) instead of yesterday, and I'm pissed, bc the whole reason for every other day runs is for my hip to recover, and of course, now its really sore. Lesson Learned. I really hope I'll get my 3 runs in when I am in Seattle next week.... |

Extreme Veteran 684 Highlands Ranch, CO | Subject: RE: Nike+ BT BEGINNER's challenge I just completed my last run of the week (I'm switching the LSD run on Saturday to either NordicTrac or trainer). I got a little more than 10 miles for the week in, and at TJ's invitation, I ran, and walked, and practically crawled. Turns out I have a stress fracture in my leg, and running every day was not a wise choice. But I wasn't about to back out of this challenge! LOL I'm going to be drastically limiting my running over the next few weeks, so I guess it's up to you all! |

OH NO! Poor you! That is exactly what I am trying to avoid, while I am thrilled at this new motivation I seem to have, I am petrified of overdoing it, which is so easy to do w/ running (compared to swimming or cyclin...) Take good care, and follow those doc's orders, after all the Nike+ trophy isn;t real gold! Edited by possum 2007-01-12 2:50 PM |

Master 1810 Morse Lake, Noblesville, Indiana | Subject: RE: Nike+ BT BEGINNER's challenge OK, as of 7PM EST tonight (Friday), I'm at 21.29 miles, and I started the mini challenge at 8.83 miles. 4 miler in 45* rain... 21.29 - 8.83 = 12.46 miles for the mini-challenge Woo! Good job to all the other runners out there as well! Next Mini-challenge, I pledge to do 3 runs at least 3k faster than a 15 minute average (tonight's run was a 4 miler at a 14' 10" average). I'll have this done by next Friday at Midnight. For the next mini-challenge - How many runs, what minimum distance, and what pace? Due date is next Friday at midnight. Again, run, walk or crawl pace, goal here is a set number of runs at a set pace, not too fast, but fast enough to make you work for it... |

Expert 957 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: Nike+ BT BEGINNER's challenge Ok Possum...bring it on. You've laid down the smack for 2nd place, now you've got to back it up. I had to back off some today because I've got my first metric century tomorrow. I ran 3.66 but needed about 2 more to finish the two week iron man challenge. I'll have to wait till monday to finish that, I guess. Gives you until mon to make up some ground on me. I've got 8k races the next two Saturdays! Catch me if you can..... Not the gumdrop buttons! Don't ask--Just heard the Gingerbread Man from Shrek in my head just now. |

Extreme Veteran 536 Wauwatosa, WI | Subject: RE: Nike+ BT BEGINNER's challenge just started looking on this site to try figure out how to get into some challenges with the Nike+, which is quite possbily the best motivator that I've had for running. I've been running to try catch my fiance, but now have started to look forward to running on my own rather than just 'cause she tells me we need to..... between this and learning to swim, the fitness level should improve.... At this point, I am usually going for somehere around 2 miles. Looking to increase a little, but doing a little more with the swim so it doesn't scare me when I tri for the first time. I think my Nike+ address is the same as it is here, otherwise add the yahoo dot com finishing. Thanks. Travis |

Did you have fun with the snow? I tried running--went about 300 steps and had to stop because the pain in my leg was so bad I could hardly walk. Not sure how much running I'm going to be doing for the rest of this challenge. (The weight loss challenge is probably going to go to hell, too, with all the depression eating. ) |

Champion 5183 Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Nike+ BT BEGINNER's challenge y'know? it was actually pretty fun! I drove to an area near the bike path wich is totally flat, I( really didn;t want to slip and my house is hills in all directions)- So I ran out 2 miles, and back 2 miles, and when the nano told me I was half way there and I had to turn around, I was bummed! That NEVER happens to me. I did take a 1 minute walk break every 7 minutes, and I was very well dressed for the weather, so overall, it was cool, no pressure. It was fun to be out there knowing people were thinking I was crazy! |

Expert 957 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: Nike+ BT BEGINNER's challenge I guess I shouldn't be mean and mention that we're on on our second straight 70+ forecast here in Charlotte. That's ok--Winter is coming back soon (according to our news folks!!). Our highs are only going to be in the 40's for about 3 days and then they start back up. Bundle up everybody!! Now--having NOT bragged about our weather. I have to admit that I didn't run any this weekend. I did do my first Metric Century on Saturday so I took Sunday as a rest day. I'll be hitting the treadmill this afternoon, so don't get any ideas about passing me! |

as for the eating treat yourself to fresh fruit, even expensive out of season fruit and much on that! I'm not sure about being able to use the Nike+ with an elliptical. I know it doesn't work with the NordicTrac or the bike on a trainer. I heard somewhere that it measures foot falls, so I think there has to be actual impact to register. I am so bummed that I can't run because I am in so many challenges. My running was really getting better, and I was having a blast with all this. I'm still able to exercise with the trainer (which was giving me better weight management anyway), but I'm gonna fall SOOOOOOO far behind in the challenges. I normally eat pretty well anyway, and even with the pity-party I hosted over the weekend, my weight was down this morning, which was helpful in banishing the "feel sorry for me." We took the children bowling this evening just to get out--all this snow is causing cabin fever I think--and I had to quit after 4 frames because the pain in my leg from planting my foot was so bad I couldn't stand on it. SO, I guess it's rest and non-impact for me for awhile. I can work on fitness, just not running. Good luck to all of you in the challenges! |

Regular 69 Hilo, Hawaii | Subject: RE: Nike+ BT BEGINNER's challenge No runs for me for three days straight! I've been busy at work...a diver went missing on our eastern shore 2 days ago while I was on duty. Spent 34 hours on duty (24 on the ambulance and 10 searching the shoreline), got a 14 hour break and I'm back on for my regular 24 hour shift today. Keep us in your prays and wish us luck in finding the diver soon...the longer he is missing the harder it will be to find him. If all goes well, I have a tempo run tomorrow and then my LSD on Friday. Keep running! Aloha- Mike |
