Keep your training pretty steady and remember the 10% rule . Don't add more than 10% to your volume or mileage per week . And scale back mileage and pace every 2-3 weeks . I probably won't make my goal mostly because I need to get my butt on the bike. I am struggling with the bike since I hate stationary bikes at the gym and by the time my 7 month old daughter goes to bed I'm exhausted and get myself on the trainer. I know it is just an excuse. I'm going to make syself head over for a stationary ride today at lunch. Good luck with your workouts today. |

I will be in Escondido , CA (near lake Hodges home of the 50K ultra) I am at 83/120 on the bike and 53/80 on the run so far . Will try and squeeze a long run before Sunday. The storm wiped out Weds. run but I got the day off work and got in a bike and then an hour+ of strength work (Snow shovelling). Honestly I felt the hour of shovelling more than any workout I've done lately. Sunday is a day off this week for me in honor of the Daytona 500 and the unplanned 10K I ended up doing on the YMCA 1/13th mile track Friday night(47:30, not too bad). Totals: 273.2 miles bike/54.78 miles run. Remember this is fun!!! Everyone else is Green with envy. Go GREEN Team!!! Edited by southwestmba 2007-02-17 7:13 PM |

Any tips on how to keep up with a heavy workout load. I have come across things like ice baths, and elevating legs in other posts. I want to try and experiment this week for the future when I won't have as much time on my hands. |

I've lost over a week battling illness, and am finally feeling ready to get back to training. I did make one run this week, but I spent as much time stopping to cough as I did running. I've got a lot of ground to cover but I'll get my totals up before all is said and done. Hope everyone had a better week than I did. |
